@saltyAom How would that even work? Does it work in other languages? Promises are just generators and making the execution stop would require every promise to "listen" to an "abort" call, which, if I'm not mistaken, would have a big impact on performance no?

There should be a way to abort promises in JavaScript There's no way to stop running promises at all? Like, what if the client aborts the request? The function is still running, the database query is still going Wasted resources

@zeroxjackson Give it a try and let me know your thoughts. The biggest advantage is the memory usage and performance. It’s also 10MB vs. 300MB electron apps. SwiftUI is also much more aesthetically pleasing than what is possible with WebViews

This is what native feels like. No Electron. No Python runtime. Just Swift on Apple Silicon.

@VictorTaelin The more polarizing your post it, the more reach it will have. Simple law.

why this has 200k views 😭 in the past, I had to be creative and put major effort to have any reach. now, I post a low-effort opinion tier list (which I assume 3 friends will see) and it makes people hurt in kiribati. I should stop making opinion posts. I hate how silly takes get so much reach here, while important stuff get ignored anyway if you want to create a tier list, just google "programming language tier list". the first result is the site I used. (I didn't pick the options, which is why HTML5 is there, and I don't know Kotlin...)

JavaScript is the most decent language: - Decent package manager - Decent closure support - Decent fast runtime - Decent type system (with ts) Often, being decent at everything is better than being excellent at a few things and embarrassingly bad at others (Haskell) BTW, Bend is D in its current state. @BrianBreiholz @threejs Looks greats, I like the UI especially. May I ask what this editor does different to the alternatives like Blender (just curious)? From my understanding, one usually creates animation together with the character and loads them via GLTFLoader.

Working on the Timeline Editor for my @threejs animation system. Finally able to visualize the work of the past months: - Sync Marker✅ - Timeline jumps✅ - Animation events✅ Syncing is important to align animations of different length. Think of feet touching the ground in a Walk -> Run Transition. It gets more tricky though if you want to support markers on any level of a deeply nested blend tree, while still allowing for arbitrary timeline jumps. #threejs #r3f #webgamedev #animation

Very interesting that I hear a lot of broken German being used here around the marina as a pidgin, it's almost like Berlin!

@VictorTaelin Maybe the wording is the issue? "Replace with nothing" could be confusing for the AI. First it should replace `A# #A` and then it says "nothing" (although your example makes it clear).

A simple puzzle GPTs will NEVER solve: As a good programmer, I like isolating issues in the simplest form. So, whenever you find yourself trying to explain why GPTs will never reach AGI - just show them this prompt. It is a braindead question that most children should be able to read, learn and solve in a minute; yet, all existing AIs fail miserably. Try it! It is also a great proof that GPTs have 0 reasoning capabilities outside of their training set, and that they'll will never develop new science. After all, if the average 15yo destroys you in any given intellectual task, I won't put much faith in you solving cancer. Before burning 7 trillions to train a GPT, remember: it will still not be able to solve this task. Maybe it is time to look for new algorithms.

@LSXYZ9 You shouldn't stop helping others. Keep in mind, these criminals are a (or should be) a small percentage of the people you help. I would just try to have some background check or other kind of validation check.

@mrdoob @spatialweeb I believe the initial goal was to get consumed by another company, based on loud promises (you can find plenty here on Twitter). They've tried to sound like "the next big thing". It never happened though (and will not). And now it is hard to back down probably.

We want to acknowledge the confusion and frustration we heard after we announced our new runtime fee policy. We’d like to clarify some of your top questions and concerns: Who is impacted by this price increase: The price increase is very targeted. In fact, more than 90% of our customers will not be affected by this change. Customers who will be impacted are generally those who have found a substantial scale in downloads and revenue and have reached both our install and revenue thresholds. This means a low (or no) fee for creators who have not found scale success yet and a modest one-time fee for those who have. Fee on new installs only: Once you meet the two install and revenue thresholds, you only pay the runtime fee on new installs after Jan 1, 2024. It’s not perpetual: You only pay once for an install, not an ongoing perpetual license royalty like a revenue share model. How we define and count installs: Assuming the install and revenue thresholds are met, we will only count net new installs on any device starting Jan 1, 2024. Additionally, developers are not responsible for paying a runtime fee on: - Re-install charges - we are not going to charge a fee for re-installs. - Fraudulent installs charges - we are not going to charge a fee for fraudulent installs. We will work directly with you on cases where fraud or botnets are suspected of malicious intent. - Trials, partial play demos, and automation installs (devops) charges - we are not going to count these toward your install count. Early access games are not considered demos. - Web and streaming games - we are not going to count web and streaming games toward your install count either. - Charity-related installs - the pricing change and install count will not be applied to your charity bundles/initiatives. For additional questions, we have updated our blog and FAQ resources. ⬇️ Blog: on.unity.com/3ZiIwlB FAQ: on.unity.com/44NMZ0R Forums: on.unity.com/45RgrnV

I just found this custom hook and HAD to find out how it worked const [ref1, ref2, ref3] = useMultipleRefs() The hook returns an iterator - destructuring calls the iterator - on each iteration, the hook returns a useRef()
