@TorontoPolice Picking on the elderly ? They are really tough. I hope the justice system takes the stress and fear the victims felt and will continue to feel into consideration. They will be back, maybe not Toronto , but keep their files close. Kudos to TPS.

The #VPD is saying goodbye to Police Service Dog Cash today, who was diagnosed with a fatal condition earlier this week. Our thoughts are with his handler, Constable Courtney Srigley, and the entire @VPDCanine Unit, as they navigate this loss. Cash was a six-year-old black and tan German Shepherd from the Netherlands. He served the citizens of Vancouver for over five years with unwavering dedication and heart. He will be missed. #GuardianOfTheNight #NeverForget

Last week, District 6 members responded to an active break & enter in the southwest community of Kingsland. The victims, a couple in their 60s experiencing significant financial hardship, were further victimized when an offender deliberately slashed two tires on their vehicle before fleeing the area. This left the couple stranded, distressed & facing repair and towing costs they were unable to afford. Recognizing the victims’ circumstances, the District 6 Community Resource Officer (CRO) explored possible options to assist the couple. The CRO members then attended a local Kal Tire, located at 9950 Macleod Trail S.E., to explain the situation & to ask if the staff at Kal Tire could help. The staff at Kal Tire took the time to search for quality used tires in an effort to reduce costs, but none were available. New tires were ordered to ensure the vehicle would be safe and roadworthy. The District 6 CRO team was prepared to cover the costs, but the generous staff at Kal Tire kindly covered the cost of the tires & the labour. Together, the actions of the CROs and Kal Tire demonstrate the importance of values-based service, strong partnerships between police and local community businesses & compassionate leadership.
