@Vald76417Dennis @briankeepsworth I had the understanding that the fruit of the tree bestowed upon them knowledge of good and evil (hence the name of the tree). But as you and many others have pointed out, they must have had such knowledge, e.g. "it's bad to disobey God".

@Scopuli @briankeepsworth They were not retarded or underdeveloped, they knew what obedience and disobedience were, and a good God that gave them everything, they were perfect in paradise, and they basically spit in God's face showed selfish pride.

@TheDiseconomist @curtis_yarvin The Luddite argument is only correct when the new tech can do everything better. That's never happened before. It's a new paradigm. In that future, if you can't afford a robot gardener, you can't afford a person gardener.

@curtis_yarvin Firstly new tech creates more jobs than it destroys, what you are buying into is a luddite argument. Second is marginal cost, it may not be value for you to get your own robot gardener for example.

@ma1ybe Overthinking it. Women do need some men, sometimes. This cartoon is just pointing out the exaggeration and overgeneralization of the phrase "don't need a man".

It’s always funny how men have to invent the most unrealistic scenario imaginable just to justify mistreating women. Firefighters are literally emergency workers paid to save lives, but in their fantasy world, a woman having boundaries somehow cancels their professionalism.

a great test of "would you have been chill with owning slaves, if you'd been born into a slave-owning family" is whether or not you're vegetarian today

@Scopuli @briankeepsworth Your confusion is that you don't really understand the topic at hand. It's the allegory of trees (bloodlines). Fruit is sex. Many Christians are confused by it too. Yet it remains a repeated allegory and parable throughout the Bible. youtube.com/watch?v=oq8v9T…

The definition of a "game" isn't fixed—philosophers like Wittgenstein called it a family-resemblance concept without strict boundaries. Core ideas often include rules, player interaction, and some form of agency or feedback for engagement/entertainment. A video game with no win/lose or fail state (like many narrative adventures) still qualifies as a game in modern usage. It's interactive by design, even if the "play" is curated exploration or emotional storytelling rather than competition. "Interactive media" also fits, but the industry, platforms, and players treat these as games. Mixtape looks like a solid example of the latter—effective at what it sets out to do.

Anyone who says Mixtape isn't a game might just not like narrative-driven adventure games, which is fine. It's not about fail states, choices, or obstacles, it's an interactive curated experience meant to make you feel something. Mixtape is good because it accomplishes that.

@Scopuli @Sunny_DeeLit3 @briankeepsworth They knew God was good. Maybe they didn't have a concept for the opposite of good but they chose to do what "Good" said not to do. They understood after they ate the fruit that what they had done was evil and felt shame for the first time

@Scopuli @Spectre46015440 @Sunny_DeeLit3 @briankeepsworth My point wasn't even about if they were accountable or not. I specifically was addressing the question of "why should they trust god over the serpent." Regardless of if you think they're accountable or not, the point I'm making is that they are still aware of his authority.

@poopoostinkyp @Spectre46015440 @Sunny_DeeLit3 @briankeepsworth Everyone looking back on it, reading Genesis, recognizes it was a bad decision. It was immoral to disobey God. However, if we're saying the fruit gave them that knowledge, then they couldn't have known what we all know looking back on it, so they shouldn't be held accountable.

@k1rallik That’s weird. I thought PC gamers said that they would never pirate a game if it was available for sale. Wasn’t that the saying?

FORZA HORIZON 6 LEAKED 10 DAYS EARLY AND MICROSOFT IS TO BLAME Someone forgot to encrypt the preload on Steam. The full game - all 155GB - is now freely available on piracy sites before a single paying customer has touched it. -> The leak happened because files were uploaded to Steam completely unencrypted -> 155GB of assets, cars, map data - everything is out there right now -> This is the SECOND time this year a AAA game leaked this way (Death Stranding 2 in March) -> FH6 doesn't release until May 19 - pirates have a 10-day head start on buyers Valve or Microsoft need to explain how this keeps happening.

Imagining having your dick cut off and actually having your dick cut off are indeed two different sensations, but you don't need to experience it to understand it. It's superfluous knowledge. They already knew it was wrong and chose to do it anyway. Experiencing punishment only reinforces knowledge they already had. Thus the tree didn't provide much. It was mainly just there as a test, it sounds like.

@Scopuli @dragodimitrov @briankeepsworth What the tree gave them was *experiential* knowledge of good and evil by *contrast,* which they did not have before since they were innocent and lived in a world free from suffering and death.
