@Scopuli

The most likely outcome of superintelligence is a brief golden age followed by utter disaster.

@hancockdavid @jamesawhiite I remember it. At the eastern edge of the Central time zone, we woke up in the dark to get ready for school, and as we arrived the sky was just beginning to show some light. Opponents felt it wasn't safe for millions of kids to be headed to class in the darkness.

It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

@JarvisAeneas The climate warms and cools over long periods of time (ice ages, warm periods, etc.). Humans have caused a small amount of extra warmness in this inter-glacial period due to CO2 output. At the same time, one day's outlier temperatures are just that: outliers.

I’m starting to think that I’m the only right-winger on this platform who believes that climate change is a real phenomenon. Not saying it hasn’t been exaggerated in the media, but I just don’t see how you can wholesale reject it.
RS Archer@archer_rs

Apparently climate change is a myth.

@Hitchslap1 It is, though. If you're talking about "choosing which words to use", that's just looking up the best word in a bunch of tables. The act of responding, of interpreting meaning, and then saying a thing back that the person will find useful. THAT's intelligence.

@TheLaurenChen And why does people like you decided to be stupid, when it comes to Euphoria? People suddenly have a brain when it comes to any other X rated tv show, that has the same type of X rated content. This show isn’t meant for kids at all.

Women do more housework. 200% more. Living alone, compared to men living alone. Women do more housework not because they're oppressed or because it makes them healthier or happier (they're the most medicated for depression). The do it because they like it. They do it because they're driven to because of their biological role. The only people oppressed by housework are the men that are forced to do it by the women that are so egocentric they can't imagine anyone else being any different than them.

@thunderf00t The level of SpaceX failure to contribute anything to humanity is alarming. Even Starlink is potentially a failure due to its high maintenance nature.

Pull-Ups vs. Lat Pull-Down: For muscle growth in the Lats, give me a well-built Lat Pull-Down over a Pull-Up Bar any day of the week There are 2 key reasons for this: 1) Greater stability….obviously this has become a bit of a meme but it does matter for hypertrophy 2) The Lat Pull-Down setup will afford you the ability to manipulate body position to better bias the Lats FWIW, I don’t think the gap in terms of effect size/outcome is all that large here but I do think it exists

Lat pull down vs Pull-ups which one has a better back activation?

We need heat shields to protect us, since we use the air to slow us down as we return to Earth. From orbital speed, it gets to 1650°C / 3000°F. From the Moon: 2750°C / 5000°F. For yesterday's Starship suborbital test flight, peak was 1450°C / 2600°F. Great to see the @SpaceX progress over the last 3 flights. Making them truly reusable is complex and necessary for permanent, cheap space access. image compilation: @niccruzpatane
