A Vietnam vet said I don’t know what I’m talking about… because I said the AR-15 is NOT more powerful than the M4.
Let that sink in.
I responded to a veteran who made the claim that the AR-15 is more powerful than the standard military issue M4.
Then another vet came behind him and basically said I’m the one who doesn’t know guns.
Here’s the problem:
Respect for your service and being factually right are not automatically the same thing.
The modern civilian AR-15 is semi-auto only.
The M4 can do more.
Same basic platform. Same round.
So how exactly is the civilian rifle somehow “more powerful”?
It isn’t.
And this is exactly how bad gun arguments spread — people hear confidence, emotion, and credentials… and assume that means the facts are solid.
So I want to hear from y’all:
Should veteran status protect somebody from criticism when they’re wrong about guns?
Comment:
YES if you think service changes the conversation
NO if facts are facts no matter who says it
And be honest —
Would you have called this out too, or stayed quiet because he’s a Vietnam vet?

I would highly encourage President Trump to not let the Spanish government’s decision to restrict their air space to the U.S. military go unanswered.
Spain clearly doesn’t understand the importance of degrading the largest state sponsor of terrorism that has wreaked havoc on the world since 1979. I will gladly work with anyone to impose sanctions on Spain for this outrage.
I would again recommend to President Trump that we close U.S. air bases in Spain and relocate to a country that allows these assets to be used to protect America and the world. The sooner this is done, the better.

I'm not sure why you are declaring victory and exoneration when the war is going extremely well and none of your doomsday predictions have panned out.
We're four weeks into the war. It did not result in WWIII. There aren't thousands of American casualties. The Arab countries are unified against Iran. We're obliterating Iran's conventional and nuclear capabilities.
All at an extremely low cost, both in economic terms and in lives lost.
I don't want to declare premature victory, but if anything, we were right and you were wrong.

Some of us expressed great concern about the Iran War when it was first launched. We were shouted down and condemned as “panicans” and “blackpillers” and even Islamist sympathizers. But it’s pretty clear from how things have gone that our concerns were absolutely reasonable and legitimate. Maybe Trump will get us out of this thing soon and it still won’t spiral into a long and drawn out war. But even if that happens — and I’m not convinced it will — no thoughtful person can deny at this point that the spiral and long war scenario is very much a possibility. No reasonable person, at this stage, can say that our concerns were irrational. What looks irrational now — and always did — is the demand for blind allegiance and unthinking “trust” in our elected leaders, as though we are called to have faith in politicians like we have faith in God.
