This is what Mamata Banerjee was defending when she spoke up for Jehangir Khan, a criminal contesting on a TMC ticket from Falta in Diamond Harbour.
In several polling booths, the option to vote for the BJP has been blocked using a tape, effectively preventing voters from exercising their choice.
This is the so-called “Diamond Harbour Model,” the same template that helped Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee secure his Lok Sabha seat.
We demand an immediate repoll in all affected booths in Falta where such incidents have occurred. Details of a couple of such booths, along with evidence, are provided below:

रुबिका जी, याद कीजिए बिहार को! बैलट बॉक्स में इंक, आग लगा देना, डब्बों को नदी में फेंक देना, लूट कर भाग जाना! ऐसे ही खुली धमकियाँ दी जाती थीं जो आज अभिषेक और ममता, जहाँगीर और ऋजु दत्ता दे रहे हैं। लोग भय के कारण वोट देने ही नहीं जाते थे। 42-45% मतदान होता था।
एक चुनाव आयुक्त आया, सब बदल गया। मुझे याद है हमारे बेगूसराय के SP गुप्तेश्वर पांडे हुआ करते थे। खुली जीप से हाथ में मेगा फ़ोन लिए, अपराधियों को सीधे गोली मारने की बात भी की, और मारा भी।
तब जाकर हमें उन दुरूह दिनों से मुक्ति मिली। वही हाल बंगाल में इस बार संभवतः हो रहा है। लोगों को भावनात्मक रूप से ये सुरक्षा बल बहुत सँभाल रहे हैं। एक वीडियो देखा जिसमें एक स्त्री केवल इसलिए रो पड़ी कि अब वो निर्भय हो कर वोट दे सकती थी।
यह दुर्भाग्य है कि एक स्त्री को, काली माता के घर में नेतृत्व दिया गया और उसने पूरे राज्य और बंगला संस्कृति का सत्यानाश कर दिया। एक समय औद्योगिक केंद्र रहने वाले बंगाल के कारखानों की दीवारों पर पेड़ उगा दिए इन वामपंथियों ने, और ममता उसे सींचती रही।
