This week I was honored to be elected Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee. This new role is an opportunity to help shape meaningful policy and turn good ideas into real results for the American people. I remain focused on delivering for the High Desert and Inland Empire by advancing polices that strengthen our economy, support innovation, and keep our communities safe. sbsun.com/2026/04/16/inl…

I just walked it in 24 mins. White House to Adams Morgan. All uphill, full office work clothes in 91 degree heat. What a feeling to be alive.

Honestly kudos to @jetblue for catering Kosher for Passover snacks during Passover. They’re available on request and most people don’t know about them. Pro tip: I like the cranberry raisin mix more than any other JetBlue snack, even the non-Kosher ones.

Local love for @TSA Inspired and sponsored by a Bozeman Jewish family, I was honored to deliver lunch today to the TSA agents at @BozemanAirport & provide them with fifty $75 gift cards for groceries. We can’t solve all of the worlds issues and certainly can’t resolve DC dysfunction, but we can show up for those in our community who continue to show up to work daily, allowing our airport to operate, and ensure that they know how much we care. Little acts of kindness can make all the difference and tip the scales towards a brighter world. Don’t just Kvetch; shine.

I joined @RepLaLota and our New York and New Jersey colleagues in pressing for answers on reported staffing shortages, long wait times, and claims delays at the World Trade Center Health Program. Our 9/11 first responders and survivors deserve better. We fought to secure funding for the program, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure it delivers the care these heroes and their families were promised.

JCRC is aware of a disturbing incident at Santana Row in San Jose in which two Israeli Americans were brutally attacked while speaking Hebrew. After arriving at a restaurant, they were approached by three unknown individuals and punched multiple times, leaving one victim briefly unconscious. Both victims were transported to the emergency room and later released. The San Jose Police Department is investigating the incident as a hate crime. We are in close communication with our partners at Jewish Silicon Valley, as well as local elected officials, law enforcement, and community leaders. We will share additional information as it becomes available.

After a record-breaking year working with @realDonaldTrump & @SecDuffy, my last day with the administration will be Friday, February 20th. I’m coming home to be closer to my family and get back into the fight. New York is being run into the ground. Stay tuned!

During Black History Month, we recognize two Ohio trailblazers, the Stokes brothers. Louis Stokes served 30 years as the first Black Congressman from Ohio, and Carl Stokes made history in 1967 as Cleveland’s mayor and the first African American mayor of a major U.S. city. I’m grateful for their leadership and lasting impact on our state.

130 schools said no. He led the losingest program in college football history to a national championship anyway. Fernando Mendoza was a 2-star recruit from Miami. He tried to walk on at his hometown school. They passed. So did FIU. So did FAU. So did everyone else. At 17, he was sitting in his bedroom, crying over a silent recruiting inbox—after driving to 18 camps with his dad and sending highlights to more than 100 programs. Not one FBS offer. His only option? Yale. No scholarship. No NFL path. Everyone told him to be “realistic.” “Know your place.” “Be grateful.” He didn’t listen. Because Mendoza understood something most people miss: The worst outcome isn’t failing. It’s never getting the chance to try. Two weeks before signing day in 2022, his phone rang. Cal needed a body. One offer. Out of 134 schools. He took it. He arrived as the third-string quarterback. Spent a year on the scout team. Lost his first four starts. Got sacked 41 times behind a broken offensive line. Still got up. Every time. Then Cal brought in a transfer instead of building around him. So Mendoza left the only school that had ever said yes. He transferred to Indiana—the losingest program in college football history. People laughed. “Career suicide.” “Graveyard program.” “Nobody wins there.” One coach told him something different: “I’m going to make you the best Fernando Mendoza possible.” That was enough. Mendoza wasn’t just playing for football. His mother has battled multiple sclerosis for 18 years. Before every snap, he thought of her. “My mother is my why.” Indiana went 16–0. Beat six Top-10 teams. Won their first Big Ten title since 1945. Mendoza threw 41 touchdowns. Won the Heisman—first in school history. First Cuban-American to ever do it. Then came the title game. Miami. Near his hometown. Fourth-and-4. Season on the line. Quarterback draw. The kid 134 schools rejected spun through defenders and dove into the end zone. Game over. Indiana—national champions. The losingest program became the best team in America. All because a 17-year-old refused to believe “no” was the end. Rankings don’t decide your ceiling. Gatekeepers don’t write your ending. Being overlooked isn’t a verdict—it’s a starting point. Sometimes all you need is one shot… and the courage to bet on yourself when nobody else will. Don’t quit. Credit: Barclay Mullins

My dad, Alex Kleytman, an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor, was murdered on December 14, 2025, at Bondi Beach Hanukkah Lighting Festival. He was a fascinating, cheerful and kind person of many talents with an unwavering spirit. He died shielding my mum, Larisa. 🧵
