@Bored_Teachers I remember teaching with the door open. Showed we had nothing to hide, there was learning going on. Also let the air circulate. One year I had a window that opened too! It was great! I loved walking down the hall and hearing the buzz in each class. Miss those days!

@godlywomanhood Not just the beach. The grocery store! And school! There are half-naked girls everywhere now days. Its even hard to find modest clothing for my teenage girls in stores.

Soon, women will walk around naked at the beaches. They practically do now. Take your children to the beach on cool days, or don’t take them at all. Make them wear modest bathing suits. We live in a depraved culture. God commands we be set apart and holy.

@ModestTeacher We have 7 weeks of school left and 6 high stakes tests: STAAR Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math, then End of Year MAP Reading and Math. 7 weeks, 6 tests, NO new learning. NONE! Know what we'll do with all that data? NOTHING! Such a waste.

Many in education have been convinced that an “equal interval grading scale” is more fair. Under this system, a 60% = a B instead of a D. Would those who support this trend trust a doctor or pilot who scored a 60% on their final exams?

@educator4ever36 How would a school get subs for all the teachers taking off? And enough kids are absent, does the school lose funding for that day? (22 year veteran and I have no idea how funding works, haha) I would agree with only observing American Holidays.

Public school calendars need to be legislated to be religious observation free. If a break falls over a holiday, so be it. If a student needs off for observance, give them an excused absence. But all of these broken weeks are recking havoc on the school week.
Alec MacGillis@AlecMacGillis

"This year, NYC's K–8 students are scheduled for complete 5-day weeks just over half of all weeks; for HS students, 22 of 44 weeks will be incomplete. Snow has played a part, but bigger culprits are religious & cultural holidays & staff-development days." nymag.com/intelligencer/…

@ModestTeacher And grade inflation. Can't fail the sped kids. Can't give below a 50. Can't have more than a certain percent fail your class. Can't leave a 69, 79, or 89. Grafes mean NOTHING anymore.

High school is supposed to give you a foundation of knowledge to build upon as you go through life. Far too many students have a foundation built of sand from cheating.

@deaflibertarian And kids usually went home and WORKED. On farms, at the family store, helping with siblings or grandparents, etc. They had more opportunity to burn off all that energy.

Kids' little bodies are not ready to sit still for 7+ hours a day. When they need to move, they call it ADHD and prescribe meds that affect their development. WHAT ARE WE DOING. Some may say well back then we did fine. Well back then we had 3X recess time, shorter class time, and longer lunch time!

@BehizyTweets I called the IRS to ask some questions. The United States of AMERICA IRS! Indian with a thick accent who couldn't understand me went round and round with me until I finally just hung up. Why, WHY is our own IRS using Indian men in the call center?

Why does Chase Bank still have people with heavy Indian accents answering the phone? Hasn't AI progressed far enough to replace that labor? Me: "I need to send a wire to someone, I hope it processes on Monday." Her: "Sorry, sir, it usually takes 2-3 business days for wires to process." Me: "Okay." Her: "Well, is there anything else you need help with today?" Me: "No, just that." Her: "Well, thanks for calling Chase..." (about to hang up) Me: "Wait, I still need to send the wire." Her: "Sir, I told you it takes 2-3 days to process the wire." Me: "That's okay, I still need to send the wire, I'm just hoping it processes faster." I'M TIRED.

@educator4ever36 From my principal: "This summer, all staff are going to be required to complete Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (per recent legislation)." I registered for the half day training, but I'm debating refusing to attend. I'm a math teacher, not a counselor. Thoughts?

We need to declare schools safe zones from mental health services. Sure, let counselors identify and refer, but no need for screening (can be done at Dr office or by parent referral) treatment or universal mental health activities.
Carolyn D. Gorman@CarolynGorman_

Over $130 billion in federal and state funds had gone to school-based mental health in the past decade or so alone. Youth mental health outcomes have not improved. It’s time for a new approach, I write in @realDailyWire

🚨 BREAKING: Justice Sam Alito just shut it down on liberals pushing endless mail in ballots after election day. “Election day means a day.” He laid it out clearly. Labor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, they are all single days. Same applies here. One day. One election. End of story. 🔥

My midwives never washed the white coating off my babies after birth. They told me to leave it on as long as I could. With all three kids, I delayed the first bath for about a week. That coating is called vernix. It starts forming halfway through pregnancy. It's antimicrobial, moisturizes the baby's skin, and has proteins that protect against infection. Babies born earlier tend to have more of it. Babies born later have less. The WHO recommends leaving it on for at least 6 hours, ideally 24. Yet many hospitals still bathe babies within hours of birth. Your baby spent months building that coating. Maybe don't wash it off in the first hour.
