I think this is a good question. Recent conference messages show that God is far more concerned with how we treat one another than outward expressions of righteousness, because as we saw yesterday, obsession over traditional rules does not promote peace.

@zonacoug @joewheat27 I don't feel its entirely justified to say it was only "Republicans" who thought this. I know for a fact there were also many democrats who had the same ideology. It's not a political matter its a generational one. The old church, I feel, was a fear mongering one.

He took Utah from a one-hit wonder that Urban gave birth to and turned it into a juggernaut that wins year after year. He turned 5–7 into 10–2 and the Michigan job. No scandals. No cheating. He guided this program through its darkest hours, when we lost two young men to violence, and he kept the team, the staff, and the university moving forward with dignity and strength. Along the way, he didn’t just win games; he built great men. I’ve been a friend of Kyle Whittingham since the dreadful early MWC days, through the Pac-12 startup beatings, all the way to last year’s debacle and this year’s resurrection. I’ve seen what he endured, what he built, and what he gave to this program. In a way, I’m glad he’s moving on because a portion of this fanbase has been spoiled rotten and never truly appreciated him. Some of you called him a BYU guy. Others trashed everything he ever did. Even after the Sugar Bowl, Pac-12 titles, and Rose Bowl trips, it was never enough. So no, your slander isn’t going to go unchecked. You don’t get to say whatever you want without someone calling it out. Not when it comes to a man who gave everything to this program and left it better than he found it. Have some class.
