Just finished "Blue Caps to New Zealand". A meticulously researched, fascinating story of the 1923/24 tour and the tours from other Australian sides which preceded it. Absolutely recommended for anyone interested in the formative years of New Zealand cricket.

SACKED COACH TROLLS CRICKET NSW... WITH A TROPHY 🏆 Outgoing Blues coach Greg Shipperd clearly wanted to send a message. He was sacked in January, with NSW bosses claiming it gave the team "the best chance to win titles"... then led the state to a drought-breaking One-Day Cup crown. On Monday night, he wanted to remind them of what they'll be missing. He lost his sight in later years but such was his understanding of the game and the companions he chose (Fingleton, SF Barnes) that he was still able to critique Cowdrey at Edgbaston, 1961 for not deploying a deep point for Neil Harvey.

Wilfred Rhodes, unquestionably one of the game's greats. In a 58-Tesr career from 1899 to 1930 he scored 2325 runs at 30.19 and took 127 wickets at 26.96; in all cricket he played 1110 matches scoring 39969 runs at 30.81 and taking 4204 wickets at 16.72, aggregates that will never be matched. Oh, and he also held 765 catches. In his final year, aged 52, he played four Tests.

Book 15, A Thing of Beauty: The Founding of the @scg Volume 1 by @garmstrong61 - purchased from the author. Great detail, well researched and like many good histories, themes in the book are relevant to public debates today. Eg. The intersection of sport, politics and power.
