Good to see the Northumberland Line making more railway press headlines but just a reminder that @RailwayMagazine was the only rail title to turn up for all the opening events and speak to key figures at each of them. We'll again have interviews no-one else has in the May issue.

Check out the great feature on the PEP family of units in the new (April 2026) issue of The @RailwayMagazine. Fifty years of history and some wonderful pictures of all five classes.

@LeicRailAle170 More/better ticket inspection - why penalise the (majority) honest passenger when the (minority) dishonest one could still get round this by buying a ticket on the day.

One of the things I love most about my job is going to unusual places on the railway network (there's plenty!) Today's office: The roof of Gatwick Airport station where the largest national rail double arrow symbol can be found. My crude measurements make it around 40m wide!

The @RailwayMagazine is the only rail title to have attended all the station inauguration events over the last 15 months. We've run regular updates since the project got the go-ahead, so only right we'll have a piece with interviews from today, wrapping it all up in May's issue!

1/ Bedlington, the 6th and final station to form part of the £336.4m Northumberland Line project, reconnecting communities between Newcastle and Ashington to the rail network, officially opened today. But local politicans are adamant it won't be the last.

The architectural splendour of our railway station trainsheds can now be savoured. A much more welcoming sight than the gloomy, soot covered structures of years ago. Trackwork is cleaner and detritus free thanks to modern on board toilets. @networkrail @Modern_Railways
