@DrDreamsMusic @JustineBateman I've considered the uses of AI. To cut out the middle man I instead pour motor oil in rivers and occasionally disconnect my neighbors' water/power. The only benefit so far is it forces the wealthy to go on record defending the death of communities they invade.

@Bugimus @ElliottCar69754 @PostDisclosure imo the first step to any of it would be completely removing monetary incentives from politics. publically funded campaigns, index fund investing only for reps/families, stop lobbying etc. idk how exactly, but until then there'll always be another willing to sell us out

Being against UBI is totally fine. But so many of the arguments people make against it insult my intelligence. For example, the idea that if people aren't forced to work, they will lose all meaning. Many people dislike their jobs so much that they would trade working just to survive for the possibilities downtime opens up. Since when do we find meaning in doing something we despise? Has work for survival become our new idol? What about spiritual work, reading and studying, teaching, family time, growing food, working out, enjoying hobbies, and so forth? I'd flip this whole conversation—the fact that so many people think work is the primary source of meaning is a bigger problem than people having the option not to work. And UBI wouldn’t make working impossible; it just means people could be much more selective about what kind of work they do. That’s freedom and agency at its best.

@Bugimus @ElliottCar69754 @PostDisclosure I agree that if UBI started now, current systems and ulterior political incentives would ruin it like many things in the US. just exhausted watching people suffer while the comfortable argue about how to help them, accuse them of fraud or drug use, put them in jail, etc.

@TheCalvinCooli1 Nothing will happen and the leftists will have him speak at the next gala about population reduction, eating fake meat, and putting vaccines in our food. His wife divorced him because of his relationship with Epstein ( her words not mine)

@BloatMcQueen @heroesahead @PostDisclosure let's see, our current system has us in endless wars we didn't vote for, supporting nations that kill innocent people on purpose, our least productive people in society (that you think UBI would be terrible for) are treated like trash by ppl like YOU. MLK warned abt ppl like you

@heroesahead @Slippitopia @PostDisclosure It’s not like we need to run hypotheticals here. California exists and pumps seemingly endless money and resources into their homeless problem. And shockingly, giving homeless people a bunch of clean needles and walking around money just makes things worse

@RepDavid we don't trust YOU. YOU are more concerned with getting rich than helping people, theres no argument. My philosophy is also simple, if a representative takes money from foreign agents and benefits from insider trading, they should be tried for treason.

I want to try things that have a chance of benefitting us all. I’m not convinced this is it. Besides, soon there will be massive upheaval from AI and I think we’re going to need real solutions if we’re to maintain a stable society. UBI feels too much like socialism with a cool name and history proves socialism is not the answer.

@world_teller @Yamscasino The scene illustrates the exact opposite of that. He's a Michelin star chef who makes all those ornate foods, but what he's able to connect with his son over is a simple (to him) grilled cheese. The substance is fatherly love and connection.

@Yamscasino I'm so tired of books/movies focusing on food in this way. Feels like soulless pandering to me rather than genuine care. Maybe it's just oversaturated.

@evh1234567890 @MHerskovitz doesn't it feel like AI has brought us closer to feudalism than socialism? If it's only hurt marginalized communities and workers so far, when is it going to switch to socialism?

@MHerskovitz Here's the thing. As a right wing person who is against Marxism, Marx is technically correct that economies evolve over time. Just as capitalism replaced feudalism, and we currently have something in-between capitalism and socialism, AI will likely bring about full socialism

Marshall Herskovitz - find me at the blue place
AI will NOT fund UBI. Millions of firings will destroy consumer spending and cause a recession, so companies who cut costs with AI will find fewer customers. And the govt is already so deep in debt it won’t be able to support those who lost jobs. Even if UBI were possible, are we to assume everyone gets the same? Is that the meritocracy our conservative leaders promised? Talent, experience, drive will mean nothing? Sounds more like a socialist dystopia than free enterprise. Knowingly or not Yang is calling for a rebirth of Feudalism. Nope.

It’s clear that AI will wind up funding universal income. Let’s make that happen ASAP.

@heroesahead @BloatMcQueen @PostDisclosure your concerns are a lot less valid to me than the person struggling with addiction on the street, arrested for camping on the sidewalk. YOU are the "common man" going along with the "current thing," current thing being watching people suffer w/o standing up for them

those aren't things i said listen, understandably you want UBI, but you're going to have to deal with people like me to get there which means you're going to have to get us on your side and this isn't going to do it our concerns are valid, and they will need to be addressed, and you can act like humanity is some wellspring of good but for a few bad apples but that certainly doesn't explain the horrors of human history that have repeated over and over again it isn't just a few bad apples when the 20th century was the bloodiest century in human history filled with genocide and wars the common man is quite happy to go along with the current thing even if that current thing is gassing the jews or raping the girls before you burn down the village no, i see no evidence that man is "inherently" good sorry not sorry

A life-sentence inmate is woken up by an officer. The inmate stays calm and politely asks the officer multiple times to stop cussing at him. The officer gets dismissive, keeps cursing, orders him to cuff up, and when he doesn’t move fast enough, pepper-sprays him. That’s when the inmate snaps and attacks the officer. The whole situation escalated so quickly. Who do you think was more in the wrong here — the officer for being aggressive and ignoring his repeated polite requests, or the inmate for reacting violently after being pepper sprayed?

genuinely how am i supposed to feel anything but hatred for a man who says me or my children will lose our jobs, offers no solutions, and gets rich off doing so? all the while being smug and condescending maybe he should go fuck his own asshole?
