Republicans control the White House, the House, the Senate and have a majority conservative SCOTUS and with a straight face they tell the American people that they can't get things done "because of the Democrats." That dog don't hunt.

@MarkRitchie_II I've always been curious about how often traders take a trade just based on the chart. Everyone talks about having some CAN SLIM type fundamentals as almost a must. But stocks can go up regardless of the data.

Trade #1... $CYRX This is a classic high RPR type trade, show me a chart that looks like this and I'm potentially interested don't care what they do. These guys are transport for medical stuff but for me looking at the earnings and the chart it I'm gonna trade the strength as it's powerplay ish/esq and if I get a nice 2/3R I'll turn it and burn it, small position due to liquidity but this is the type of trade when my account was smaller that I may take a big line as you can get good quick alpha out of setups like this. On the fundamental side you can see not much to write home about, company is losing money, some small earnings in last quarter but against losses and nothing that jumps out at me, and I don't know the story much at all so happy to ring the cash register if I'm fortunate enough to do so.

A long winded answer with real time examples... For me it is always the technicals that draw me to a trade. I like to think of it like renting vs owning. I'll rent (trade) any stock but I don't want to own (hold) any outright without renting first and I NEVER play anything for a larger move without getting at a profit first. So I'm only playing from a position of strength what I call 'trade to invest'. So three examples from this week of things I bought and currently own. Going to do follow up post on each one so I can show charts and thought process. Please feel free to tell me if this is or isn't helpful as again I'm not on here to talk my book but to actually provide insight to people who find it helpful...

@TechCharts Do you see more successful trades when you wait for a 3% breakout confirmation close compared to buying a few pennies right as it moves above the boundary?

Breakout, pullback and continuation? A H&S continuation with a re-test. Candidate for a Type 2 breakout. Price action that remains above Last Full Day low (intraday price action not closing basis) and reach price objective are categorized as Type 2 breakout. $KRNY

@PeterLBrandt Does the support of the previous pattern, that is below the descending triangle, have any impact on your trade and price target?

Two things are required for a "possible" pattern to become a "realized" pattern 1. Completion 2. A run to the target If descending triangle below is realized, Silver could trade again in the low $40's/high $30's $SI_F

@breckgold @TechCharts @PeterLBrandt Did you test how far they go. Like did they really just go to their price target and then stall out, or did they trend further

@Average_Sam_101 @TechCharts @PeterLBrandt Yes. All terms, not just long. Didn't matter. Also, we wrote these patterns to be discrete binary signals; Ie. no interpretation. It's was a difficult pattern recognition programming challenge. Non-Horizontal patterns were MUCH more difficult to reliably represent.

Beginners draw diagonal boundaries usually connecting two lows. It is the most frequent and the most misleading. That is why for all level chartists I'm suggesting to focus on horizontal boundaries that have several tests. They are rare, but more often valid technical levels.
Aksel Kibar, CMT@TechCharts

The success of your charting is not evaluated by its prediction or its capability of forecasting a move, it's success comes from the identification of a valid level recognized by market participants, that produces a directional move to profit from, once breached.

@breckgold @TechCharts @PeterLBrandt Are you basically saying, trading ranges that have multiple touches/long term ranges are more successful? Also, did it matter if it was a reversal or continuation trading range?

@TechCharts @PeterLBrandt Bitd, I had C/C++ programmers tasked for over a year, testing Edwards & Magee patterns against out-of-sample data (pre/post E&M over many decades of data). We found that well defined (multi-point) horizontal patterns dwarf non-horizontal in relability over all time-frames.

@Average_Sam_101 @TechCharts @PeterLBrandt I don’t prefer ETFs over stocks. There are a lot of people who can’t afford futures, and asset managers & investment advisors tend to trade more ETFs than single name stocks. I’m targeting the latter. Personally, I trade the most efficient vehicle I can express a trade in.

@jonbking @TechCharts @PeterLBrandt Is there a reason why you prefer ETFs over stocks? Is it because less volatile, more winners in terms of reaching their price target?

So to sum up today's news, our president has a nipple fetish, Vance's team is jumping ship and Trump announced a historic peace deal in the Iran war only to have both Israel AND Iran say they have no idea what the fuck he's talking about. What a time to be alive.
