If a #1 seed falls 10 points behind any school that runs a polling institute at any point in the game (Siena, Quinnipiac, Marist) they should just be eliminated IMO.

Longtime users are frustrated with X because it no longer works the way it used to. Back in the early days of Twitter, your reach was simple and direct. If you had 5,000 or 10,000,20,000 followers, your posts were delivered to them in real time. It was a true chronological feed—your tweets showed up in the order you posted them, and your audience actually saw your content. The “old” Twitter (pre-2016) was built around that real-time experience. Your voice reached the people who chose to follow you, without interference. Today, that’s no longer the case. X relies on an algorithm-driven, engagement-based feed, meaning even your own followers may never see your posts unless the system decides to prioritize them. That shift—from a guaranteed audience to an unpredictable algorithm—is why so many longtime users feel frustrated and disconnected.

@StuffForSisters As a survivor of 16 years of Catholic school, I love it. I took the kids sledding on Sunday. In March! My body was unready.

It is extremely humorous to me that people are suddenly bothered by the fact that I, a conservative Trump critic, don’t vote for Democrats. Y’all are more annoyed than the Trump voters who have known for years that I’ve never voted for him.

@SouthernKeeks @baseballcrank Time to pick a side you support, one would think. Otherwise it starts to smell like you aren’t really with us. Is the good the enemy of the perfect?

@PhotobombingC @allie__voss @InezFeltscher I do believe this is one of the most ancient and enduring filial duties, part of "life's bargain" (for those who believe in a contractural model of virtue) from roughly 10,000 B.C. until 1936.

@StuffForSisters Veronica Mars, if they still have it. The first season is one of the great seasons of the early golden age. The second season is fine. The third season is bad. The fourth / reboot season is... aight. Only Murders In The Building is dumb fun.

@Nolan_Mc I found myself saying "please" and "thank you" and then I made myself stop because I didn't want to become one of those weirdos who thinks their AI is their best friend or God (i will remain a different kind of weirdo thank you very much!)

@asymmetricinfo Maybe there are PE models that don't care about the long term? Maybe some PE would rather get cash out now and invest it in ETFs at 7% instead of getting by with a business that earns a steady 4% annual profit? Dunno. I just know PE wrecks a LOT of businesses with a future.

@asymmetricinfo I dunno, man. I had a dozen people in a room last week trying to figure out what the hell happened to Ellucian, and the *only* theory we could come up with was that PE bought it and decided to extract as much as it could from customer lock-in until Workday killed it.

@RandyEBarnett Isn't this argument just legislative history, with all the usual problems legislative history creates? The drafters had a phrase and changed it. They could have done so either to clarify the meaning or to change the meaning, so the original phrase by itself sheds no light on OPM.

@conor64 Why #2? I've received no new information about Ms Harris. Trump falling even further below the basement of minimal accessibility does not raise her retroactively to that basement. (I didn't vote for either.)

When the person you supported does a bunch of things that you didn't expect and that horrify you, 1) you should have regrets! 2) it should make you wonder if you also erred in your assessment of the alternatives.
Bret Weinstein@BretWeinstein

I’m distressed. But the other party, MY PARTY, ran a middle finger to the Constitution. I’d cast the same vote. And while we’re at it, I supported Kennedy, and would gladly have supported Gabbard, but the Democrats drove them out. I don’t like where we are, but have no regrets.

@HHH_Report @michhuan It seems like a very levelheaded move to have taken Selzer Iowa seriously. Some people lost their heads over it, but it moved me from about 55% Trump wins to 50%, which still seems right. Thing to remember is Selzer had published insane results before *and was always right*.

@michhuan On the one hand, he’s a fantastic forecaster. On the other, I remember him taking the final Selzer 2024 poll seriously (even at the time, EV data suggested Selzer was very badly off the mark), and that pushed him to be wrong about the most impt. political event in recent years
