@DouglasLwangaUg URA doesnt raise taxes it's the people at the ministry (Tax policy dept) that come up with these measures and then Parliament rubber stamps them into law. URA only does enforcement.

If you need to understand the reality more, try opening a small company, get a TIN, register your employees for PAYE, & NSSF. You will understand that being an employer too is another movie. No wonder businesses dont survive year 2 after opening. Dear URA Lets widen the tax base than heavy tax on the same people. @kyamageroandrew

The tax that is really hurting people is PAYE because it is taken directly from their salaries. The money we pay on airtime, water, and other things is not felt as much by people. Now they want to raise PAYE to 40 percent—nearly half of a person’s salary would be taken. Following the successful bid for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Government has revealed that it is already thinking of throwing in a bid in 2031 for Uganda to host the next World Cup. The revelation was made by Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports while appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), during the consideration of the December 2025 Auditor General’s report.
