@IrishTimes One freak and suspicious win in a non descript constituancy in northern England and Rodders thinks the greens in Ireland are a dead cert in next elections. No party has done more damage to Ireland than the greens. Never again will they hold power. Extreme left lunatics.

@Nick_Delehanty And if you listen to or read the minutes of local county councils monthly meetings across the country, all you will hear in response to requests to build stuff or maintain stuff is "There is no budget available for that" . Where are the billions ? Squandered is where they are....

€36 billion! Tax Boom continues. But at some point we need to stop and ask where is all this money going ?? Irish people are poorer in 2026 than 2025. Highest taxes in EU No infrastructure Highest mortgages rates Highest energy costs Housing shortage. What the hell is going on?

What is going on with the SNA cuts? 4 mths ago in the budget Gov were proud to announce funding for 1700 new SNA posts and here we are talking about cuts? If this was "budgeted" for just weeks ago, then where has the money gone????? This is cruel move by @irlgov #Ireland #stroke

So there I was having dinner, and I put on the RTÉ News at 9pm, partly just to remind myself how poor it often is. The top story was Keir Starmer. Granted, it’s an important story, but on an Irish national news station it really shouldn’t be the lead item. Then there was Ghislaine Maxwell pleading the Fifth and looking for a pardon. Most of the bulletin was taken up with international stories, so I switched it off. Meanwhile, BBC, ITV and other British news channels rarely focus on what’s happening here, because frankly it’s not that important to a British audience. So why are we so fixated on the rest of the world while our taxpayer-funded journalists seem to overlook the crises at home? Why is the hospital still not built? Why is it becoming impossible for nurses and doctors to afford to live here? Why does immigration feel out of control? Why are people dying on hospital waiting lists after years without treatment? Why can young couples barely dream of owning a home? Why are we giving more taxpayer money abroad than many countries with similar populations? And why does government transparency still seem so limited? Irish politicians often get away relatively unchallenged because public attention is constantly diverted to international news. By all means, have a dedicated world news programme once a week if that’s what people want. But surely Irish national news should primarily focus on the weaknesses, challenges and realities facing our own country and economy.

@EmployRightsIE No licence, no insurance, no experience driving in Ireland and he gets off. If a student is in Ireland on a student visa, they do not need an employer to sponsor them. So it seems some kind of scam is happening here. I hope the guards dig deeper. Also his employer needs cuffs!

You wonder at what point do the energy companies decide they have too many ppl in arrears and its more costly to them to chase down that debt, rather than drop the prices so ppl can actually afford to pay their bills. Like wheres the tipping point where they'll act?

New data has revealed that 187,300 electricity customers now more than 90 days behind on their payments. So we’re wondering: Does the cost of gas and electricity stop you from turning on the heat at home? jrnl.ie/6881739

@EU_Commission I guess #Ireland will never have high speed rail according to EU. We would be happy with 150kmph speeds even! But not gonna happen it seems

We’re launching a bold plan to make high-speed rail the fastest, more sustainable way to travel across Europe by 2040. 🚆 It’s a concrete timeline to remove bottlenecks, unlock investment, and harmonise rail systems⬇️

@RailUsersIe Was lucky enough to be in Switzerland last week and enjoyed possibly the best train system in the world. They have leaves too, but nothing was delayed, I guess Irish leaves are special.... It goes to show whats possible when proper investment is put into rail.

Delays of up to 35 minutes Delays too numerous to mention Usual excuses but ultimately it’s bad management, poor communication and planning which assumes best case scenario Approx 8 hours delay a day blamed on leaves…

@CosgroveNessa @labour @OceanFmIreland @shannonsidenews @SligoChampion Im not a Labour supporter, never was, never will be. But on this particular issue Nessa is right to call this out. We had catering in the 80s when Irl had no money, now we have yearly billion euro surpluses and we cant serve tea on a train. Even put in vending machines, anything!

@davidmcw @collision Something the vast majority of the country has known for years. FF/FFG, their expensive "Advisors" and the rest of them in Dail Eireann are in a bubble and refuse to change on anything. Its some legacy to be running the country for 10+ years and look at the state of the place!

@DarraghOBrienTD Denmark have several GW worth of wind projects either under construction or about to start. They also recently relaxed a law against nuclear so they can assess it. In short we are way behind our euro neighbours and we have much more untapped resources off our coasts than them.

Today I updated Cabinet on Ireland’s progress in expanding renewable energy. Our latest auction secured over 1 gigawatt of new capacity. Enough to power 350,000 homes. Driving down emissions, and strengthening our energy independence ⚡️🇮🇪

@danobrien20 Yet @SimonHarrisTD is committing millions in aid & proposing more millions in rebuilding Gaza when a budget was dished out a week ago giving tax payers absolutely nothing. The US & mega rich neighbouring oil states should be coughing up, not Joe Murphy from Cavan! #ResignHarris

Could those who argued that Ireland had influence in the Middle-East, with colonial history and neutrality often cited as factors, explain why Ireland will not be attending the signing ceremony in Egypt? Prime minister of Nato-member Norway, a country of similar size and distance from the region, is invited.

Top of the World! Irish energy prices for households are the HIGHEST in the world (twice USA for example). And the differential between what private energy companies pay for energy and what they fleece households is the BIGGEST (3.0 compared to 2.1 in France) in the world.

@Nick_Delehanty It beggars belief that a tax, which is supposed to go into government coffers for the betterment of society is being siphoned off to benefit a private company and turn its directors into millionaires. Another fine mess brought to your by the green party and @EamonRyan #useless

Re-Turn is a giant swindle on Irish consumers all under the guise of “Climate Change” Five execs were paid €1.1million last year & the company is sitting on a cash pile of almost €50million. Every cent that moves in and out of this company needs forensic scrutiny in public interest. How any political party can stand over the creation of a private entity operating this scheme is crazy. This and Dídean Dochas are essentially the same scam but in different sectors. All opposition should be united in calling these out. Great reporting from @killianwoods & @businessposthq

@RailUsersIe What are the consequences for missing targets? My guess is none, so the whole "perfomance target' thing is just a box ticking exercise with no real meaning and no accountabiity. Not like there is a competitor to take advantage or anything..

@PaulTreyvaud I said it many times. Cost of living crises is driven mainly by gov actions. A lot of 'levies" go under the radar and dont get called out. Almost 90% of levies fall on essentials ppl need to live. What does NOT have a levy? Bank profits & vulture fund landlords offshore--Millions
