Green Party hypocrisy in one councillor:
Zoe Marlow starved her Staffie to death, The RSPCA investigated after a tip-off, and found the elderly dog severely emaciated, very weak, unable to stand properly, and suffering from muscle wastage.
She was convicted, sentenced to a six-month community order, ordered to pay a £120 fine, complete five rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) days, and was banned from keeping dogs for five years, but still sits as their rep while pushing trans ideology on her own child.
They lecture us on animal welfare and "kindness" but can't even protect a dog in the home of one of their own. Inhumane. 😡

Having got the day wrong (boss’s fault!), we are delighted to update you on @RPDSnap’s surgery, which at first glance has been a huge success.
Her mum told us this evening it’s ‘early days’ as the procedure was only done today - but:
✅ Cancerous lump removed
✅ Safely home
✅ A good nap and now Snap is slightly less sleepy (& actually quite bouncy!)😁
✅ Vet extremely pleased
✅ Very smart cone attached with instructions to ‘spoil me’ on it (just in case there was any doubt)
✅ Family on full nursing duties
✅ Rewards incoming
❌ Humurous comments about new tail hairstyle discouraged… 😬
❌ Tail wagging to be temporarily limited, as it might bonk against something hard and undo those stitches, which the vet said should be left uncovered to monitor and heal faster.
So fingers crossed the vets have got all the lump out (they’re very positive) and she heals fast.
We will be assisting with the costs of course, and it will be a pleasure to see this awesome girl from @WMPolice and @WMPDogs get better and no longer have to think about worrying tumours.
Thank you for your support - remember we do this on your behalf, and would be lost without your help.
Go Snap!

History Was Made: PD Wish... The First UK Police Dog to Receive the BAGSD Bravery Award
This one may have slipped under the radar when it was first shared last year, but it absolutely deserves to be heard, because PD Wish made history.
The Merseyside Police dog became the first police dog in the United Kingdom to receive the prestigious BAGSD Bravery Award, recognised alongside her handler Con Spencer for their actions during a knife incident in St Helens. Wish brought a dangerous situation to a safe conclusion with calm, control, and the kind of composed courage under pressure that most humans would struggle to match.
Knife incidents are among the most dangerous situations any police officer or police dog can face. The risk of serious injury is real and immediate. In those moments, there is no script and no guarantee of a safe outcome. What there is, is training, trust between handler and dog, and the instinct to act.
PD Wish and Con Spencer had all three.
The BAGSD Bravery Award is a prestigious honour, and the fact that no police dog had received it before Wish speaks both to how high the bar is and to just how exceptional her actions were. Merseyside Police Dogs have long been one of the most celebrated dog units in the country, and this is another moment that underlines exactly why.
If you missed this last year, now you know. Congratulations to PD Wish and Con Spencer. A historic achievement, and thoroughly deserved.
Should bravery awards for police animals receive more mainstream coverage? Let us know in the comments.

We have sadly said goodnight to a member of the NFRSA family.
RPD Koda served with the @nuclearpolice for an amazing ten years before retiring to his handler Dave. This is Dave and Koda’s story:
“Koda
Koda was bred by Greater Manchester Police @GMPDogs and arrived with us as a nine week old ball of fluff in 2014.
In 2015, we licensed as a General Purpose dog team. Based in Cumbria, where we helped protect a Nuclear site.
In 2017, we successfully completed a Tactical Firearms Support Dog course.
I could have only dreamed of what an amazing dog he would turn out to be. He loved to work, and although we weren’t on the streets as much as he would have liked, he could hold his own in the Home Office policing world.
We had numerous mutual aid deployments, where he helped find high risk missing persons, tracking offenders and assisting in safe arrests and searching for evidence.
As my first GP dog, I couldn’t have asked for better. Loyal, fearless and with an amazing work ethic. We created a bond that I didn’t think possible between a handler and dog.
I’m forever grateful to him for making me into the handler that I am today and for always having my back.
We had to face some really tricky situations during our working time together, but having him by my side made it so much easier.
He retired as a GP dog in late 2024, when old age had caught up with him, but it’s testament to his ability and desire to work that he was still able to perform at the age that he was.
In retirement, he enjoyed time at home with family, lying in front of the fire and spending time with us all.
He leaves a huge hole in our lives, but I am incredibly grateful for the time we had together and the memories will last a lifetime.
RIP Koda 2013-2026”

...enjoying the multitude of dogs enjoying the sea, the beach, the woodland paths, until I saw these two.... 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Anyone who suggests they are genuine rescues, two generations, same breed, same crop...yeah right! It's illegal. It's barbaric. It's unnecessary.

🚨 URGENT 🚨
Retired Royal Air Force Police Dog Cyryl needs a new home
5 years young, Cyryl, who I’ve been told identifies as a potato… and honestly, I know a fair few RAF hoomans who do too 🥔😂
Cyryl absolutely hated kennels. Rather than force him to cope, the RAF made the right call and gave him early retirement 🥹💙
Now, 7 months on, he’s much preferring his new pace of life but needs a little more structure
So here’s where we need help.
Cyryl thrives on structure and routine, it’s essential for his wellbeing.
Due to a change in family circumstances, his current home can no longer provide the consistency he needs.
He is a good dog. A really good dog.
But he’s struggling to adjust to the pace and unpredictability of civilian life — and with emotions running high, everyone is feeling that pressure.
He can be reactive to other dogs, but this isn’t the full picture —
he worked alongside other dogs during his military career. He just needs the right guidance, time, and understanding to settle.
⚠️ He absolutely cannot live in kennels ⚠️
What he needs is:
A calm, structured home
Someone committed to routine
Patience, understanding, and consistency
A handler mindset — not just a pet home
Hero Paws will support you every step of the way, alongside his previous trainers.
You will not be doing this alone.
This boy has served. He has given everything asked of him.
Now, he just needs someone to show up for him.
👉 Please reach out if you can help us find Cyryl his forever home.

@LitterReporting @waitrose When I asked at @sainsburys the other day I was told they are a loss leader and if anyone wants plants they should go to a garden centre. Racks and racks of azaleas, done to a crisp. I was itching to water them.
English

Why do supermarkets buy these plants in, undercutting local garden centers & leave them to die 🤬🤬

Every phone call I've taken this week has broken my heart a little bit more.
So much unnecessary suffering.
Please spread this information, as far and wide as you can.
You may save a life.
🙏
A hedgehog *out in the open* in the day is in serious trouble and needs urgent help.
Always.
No exceptions.
Any size.
Any time.
Hedgehogs are nocturnal prey animals, they have no defences in the daytime, it's deadly dangerous for them.
They are designed to hunt at night, to navigate and catch insects in the dark, occupying a specific ecological niche.
They are not adapted to withstand high temperatures, and their shape means they rapidly dehydrate during daylight hours.
They are nocturnal animals.
So they don't come out in the day simply because they're hungry, or lost, or disturbed, or to move nests, or are pregnant, or for any other trivial reason.
They come out in the day because it's warmer than the night and they are feeling cold.
Deadly cold.
They're feeling cold because they're so sick they're starting to die, and hypothermia is a stage of dying. Blood has been redirected to the vital organs, keeping them alive as long as possible, leaving the limbs feeling cold.
If you see a hedgehog like this, out in the open, in the day time, no matter how 'well' he looks, it is an emergency.
Every minute counts.
DO NOT put them in a box and keep them, feeding them, not calling a rescue for advice for 3 days until their agony and infection is too much for them to bear and they stop moving.
DO NOT feed them then move them under a bush because you think they shouldn't be in the sun, leaving them, utterly defenceless, to be predated alive there.
DO NOT take them to a vet, none of whom are trained in wildlife and will simply put to sleep even viable wild animals.
Please take them to a rescue (never a vet) URGENTLY.
Just Google 'hedgehog rescue near me' to find a list.

@higgyboson Feel sorry for the chippies too. On a nice evening we used to nip out and get fish & chips to eat out of the paper with a bottle of bucks fizz in the car. But a tenner just for the fish alone? Nope, sorry, that's not a treat any more.
English

Me and Mrs Higgy occasionally like to go out for a cooked breakfast (usually the local golf club or (believe it or not) bike shop), a lunchtime snack, (garden centre, cafe in a park etc) or an evening meal at various local pubs/restaurants. We like to support local businesses.
But all these things have become increasingly expensive over the past couple of years.
Paying £11 for a tea, coffee and single slice of cake is ridiculous.
A sausage sandwich now costs £7.50. A burger from a van is £5.50.
£5.50 for a 30p burger in a 20p bread roll is nuts.
A very simple one course evening meal with a drink each costs at least £45.00.
So we've decided to stop doing it.
We live in a great part of the country so we'll still go out, but with a picnic and a flask of Earl Grey.
I'm self employed and Mrs Higgy is a retired NHS Staff Nurse. We have no mortgage or rent to pay so we should be out and about frequenting these places on a regular basis but the truth is - We REALLY begrudge paying the prices.
We can't be alone. I have no idea how normal families on average incomes can afford to eat out at the moment with EVERYTHING going up in price.
I can see the almost total collapse of the hospitality sector in the not too distant future.
I'll be as guilty as all the millions of others scaling back on their patronage of pubs and restaurants etc but I've been pushed too far and I'm not playing this game any more.

Never ever let it be said the power of prayer doesn’t work.
We asked - you stepped up - and Rocky is home.
He had a massive and horrid infection under the wound, so a big op to get it all out - coupled with a spectacular dose of antibiotics.
We stayed up with his Dad, (couldn’t go to bed not knowing) exchanging messages, watching and waiting, and at 2.15am the call came.
He was going to be ok.
He’s tired - he’s resting - and Dad Charlie is at his side, (he’s exhausted too).
But THANK YOU - positive thoughts work, love shown works, prayers work.
Rocky the absolute Rockstar has pulled through and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
Bless you all for being involved and for caring so much.
Reality?
There’s going to be a second cracker of a vets bill - so any help with that would be so appreciated. X
