NYCM Statement on One House Budget: We are deeply disturbed that neither the Senator nor Assembly included basic transparency requirements for New York's $11 billion contract with PPL. Handing private equity control over healthcare is questionable enough; doing so with zero oversight or accountability is reckless. At least 240,000 home care workers and consumers have fled CDPAP since PPL’s takeover. The private equity-backed company has been accused of ‘egregious fiscal and operational failures’ in six other states where they previously operated. Basic public reporting requirements are not just reasonable, they’re necessary for the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who rely on CDPAP. At least 240,000 home care workers and consumers have fled CDPAP since PPL’s takeover, and PPL has been accused of ‘egregious fiscal and operational failures’ in six other states. Basic public reporting requirements are not just reasonable, they’re necessary for the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who rely on CDPAP.
Especially as we face federal cuts to Medicaid, New Yorkers are counting on you to ensure we are spending our taxpayer dollars on care, not private equity profit. I strongly urge [NAME OF LEGISLATOR] to include these transparency measures (S9142/A10537) in the final state budget.

Tonight, all of Iowa mourns a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien of Indianola has been identified as one of the six U.S. service members killed by Iranian strikes in Kuwait.
Maj. O’Brien served with the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines. He answered the call to serve with courage and honor, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Curt and I are praying for his family, his fellow soldiers, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss. 🇺🇸

After ten months of chaos—200k workers driven from one of NY’s most essential home care programs, broken systems, stolen paychecks, and mounting scandals—these questions are long overdue. Yet instead of acknowledging the disaster she's unleashed on 100,000s of New Yorkers, @GovKathyHochul dismissed the legislators as "weirdly obsessed" with investigating a corrupt deal.
