NYCM Statement on One House Budget: We are deeply disturbed that neither the Senator nor Assembly included basic transparency requirements for New York's $11 billion contract with PPL. Handing private equity control over healthcare is questionable enough; doing so with zero oversight or accountability is reckless. At least 240,000 home care workers and consumers have fled CDPAP since PPL’s takeover. The private equity-backed company has been accused of ‘egregious fiscal and operational failures’ in six other states where they previously operated. Basic public reporting requirements are not just reasonable, they’re necessary for the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who rely on CDPAP. We strongly urge NYS leadership to include these transparency measures in the final state budget. @AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie

Oh we know the wrath of Kathy 🙄

.@JustCallMeGeri asks at Assembly Westchester Budget forum: “How are we supposed to trust that there isn't waste, fraud, and abuse in this new system with less oversight than what we had before?” TY @BurdickAD93 for pledging to fight for oversight of NY's $11B contract with PPL

OUR STATEMENT ON SENATE INVESTIGATION INTO PPL TRANSITION: “We applaud Senators @JamesSkoufis and @NYSenatorRivera for demanding accountability on the failed PPL transition. After ten months of chaos—200k workers driven from one of NY’s most essential home care programs, broken systems, stolen paychecks, and mounting scandals—these questions are long overdue. Yet instead of acknowledging the disaster she's unleashed on 100,000s of New Yorkers, @GovKathyHochul dismissed the legislators as "weirdly obsessed" with investigating a corrupt deal. At a time when NY faces billions in federal Medicaid cuts, being obsessed with protecting every Medicaid dollar isn't weird - it's leadership. What's weird is handing a $9 billion contract to a failed private equity-backed company with no questions asked, then attacking anyone who asks them. CDPAP workers and consumers have been demanding this investigation for months. It's encouraging to see Senate leaders finally demanding the transparency and accountability this administration has refused to provide. We stand ready to support this investigation with testimony, documentation of PPL's failures, and evidence of the real costs of this disastrous transition.”

🔥POWER!!!🔥 100+ Caring Majority advocates + @LtGovDelgado discuss the fight to defend care in NY & #SaveCDPAP! "Caring Majority, thanks for your persistence. That we're handing over CDPAP to private equity is VERY flawed... We must cancel PPL's contract & restore trusted FIs."
