Anxiety and overthinking don't begin in the brain. They start in the heart. Unlock more inner peace with this quick 2-minute practice 🧵

@TraumaHealing23 Simple not easy is right! I’d say there’s more to it than that, but a core practice for sure.

Is it all as simple as getting ourselves to the place where we can feel our emotions and allow them to be processed and pass through? No judgment. No resistance. No self-critique. Just acceptance, grace, and love. Is that the simple--but not easy--path to a whole life?

@SpiritDirtbag Well said! I’m reading Seeing that Frees now and it’s such a gift. This is something I’d like to explore as well. I’m starting to catch glimpses of emptiness in places where I’d be stuck before… promising!

I was thinking of the imaginal practice by rob burbea which is a little less about the self focus, but can feel the void of "everything is empty" with a more soulful expression (even than the organized religions). an "image" there could be ... yes, an image, but also an idea, a vibe, a sound, a mythos, etc. I guess the main thing that they differ with what you seem to be doing is the intention behind it though imo intention is even more important than the form of practice for the results

One thing I highly recommend is developing an imaginal practice. 10-20 minutes a day imagining your ideal self, future successes, your life unfolding in a beautiful way. And once that becomes a sustained practice, really surrendering to it and allowing to work on you.

@SpiritDirtbag Interesting, I see it less as visualization because I’m not specially conjuring up a set image, more allowing scenes to unfold with an intention. Curious about how you see imaginal as different?

@MettaMatta good practice but I'd call it visualization/manifestation "imaginal" is something different already

@MettaMatta I used to be heavy into visualization. Nowadays i just let God do the imagining and I receive prophetic visions for what is aligned with His plan.

@DanRyanNeff Thanks Dan, It doesn’t have to be a rigid schedule, but it’s really worth exploring ime.

@MettaMatta I like this thought, this practice, Matt. Interesting. I have done this before but definitely not 10-20 minutes a day. I have not been intentional enough to really dedicate to it.

@AimTrue7 100% agree. And I see it as starting with me, as attachment often gets passed on

@MettaMatta Secure attachment gives you an advantage in life. It allows you to navigate situations and relationships with confidence. As a parent the best gift you can give your child is a secure attachment to set them up for success.

secure attachment = comfortable with uncertainty. A felt sense that not knowing is okay. A deep inner trust that you will find a way forward in your career and relationships.

We do a weekly call with out two adult sons. We just finished one. I’m reflecting on how we are all at ease, we take turns talking and listening, we enjoy each others’ company, and how it’s a space of love. I had none of this growing up. The opposite tbh. My wife and I have done well. We can heal and live better lives!

@Theholisticpsyc Something that I've been practicing in my own inner work is developing that clear sense of agency and felt support from ideal parents who want me to develop my best sense of self, independent from them. Very healing.

The narcissistic father wants obedient children that make him feel important. He loves his children when they're babies or toddlers. And feels resentment when they're old enough to express their own opinions.

Wonder how many people run from connection the moment someone’s light exposes the darkness, forcing them to be face to face with their shadow for the first time. It’s not you they’re running from, it’s the parts of themselves they’re terrified to face
