@Smartnotserious not really the question. there are lots of ways to promote tourism. this is a new and different idea to try to draw attention to and capitalize on an opportunity that only comes along every other generation.

The Transportation Secretary leveraging his reality TV background and partnering with aligned stakeholders to promote the broader imperative of travel and tourism in the United States in conjunction with the nation's semiquincentennial is good, actually.

SCOOP: I obtained a pitch deck in which the entity that paid for Transportation Sec’y Duffy’s new reality show outlined different partner levels — $1 million, $500,000, $250,000 and $100,000 — which include recognition on its sponsors page and networking. static.politico.com/74/6e/5da7a151…

@LPDonovan Alright that’s fair, corporate sponsors are fine. But was there no other way to do promote tourism?

@Smartnotserious No one is alleging tax payer dollars were used; indeed the purported scandal is that it was underwritten by corporate sponsors. Promoting tourism is a core job of anybody leading DOT.

@LPDonovan It’s highly likely it was tax payer dollars, unless you have evidence otherwise(not his tweet), and I meant spending on unnecessary things. Why do a reality show to promote tourism with high inflation? And the rest of the world hates us right now, so not helping there either.

@Smartnotserious Beyond it not being taxpayer money (which is part of the critique), is there an instance where the other team did it whereby this would make any sense as a retort?

If the Strait doesn't re-open soon, I believe we could see the national average price of gasoline reaching $5/gal as early as sometime in June.

@ValerieAnne1970 You cannot possibly be this fucking stupid. This is all lies, not a hint of truth. Ventilators saved lives. Idiots

SHOCKING WHISTLEBLOWER: RN Kimberly Overton Exposes the TRUTH "Patients did NOT die of COVID. They were KILLED by hospital protocols — REMDESIVIR, VENTILATORS, and the denial of life-saving treatments. Ventilators are the new GAS CHAMBERS." "I worked ICU during the pandemic... I could not watch one more of my patients needlessly die due to DEADLY hospital protocols." No bodies piling up at homes or on streets — they were dying INSIDE hospitals from medical mismanagement and a corrupt system. This wasn't a virus. It was PROTOCOL MURDER.

@RealHickory It's not a pandemic, it rarely spreads from person to person. Just don't inhale rat poop and you'll be fine. But Hantavirus is not a hoax, been around for centuries.

@PowerOwn45 What you can also accomplish is royally pissing off the civilians so much so that they take up arms against the Iranian regime.

You can absolutely economically strangle them and make their lives much harder. What you can’t do is expect economic warfare to eliminate the threat.
Bonchie@bonchieredstate

@kevindiescher You can’t economically strangle an Islamist regime. They don’t care, and every day that passes allows them to build contingencies. How many more times does that have to be proven?

@Smartnotserious @MannsterRick @bonchieredstate When it comes to China we should definitely dictate how they do business in the US. In fact the US should replicate their joint venture laws prior to 2008. This way everyone wins. They get access to our markets and we get access to their companies and tech.

@MannsterRick @bonchieredstate We shouldn't dictate how private companies hire, but hopefully no tax breaks. We will see the details if it happens!

@Smartnotserious @bonchieredstate Don't give them tax abatements and make them hire a large percentage of U.S workers, or else they can stay in China and pay increasingly higher tariffs. We have Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia plants here.

@LettieriDC That's true, and CA has major issues, but I don't see the problem with more healthcare jobs being created because they are always in demand.

This is wild. Take out healthcare and social assistance, and employment across all other sectors in California *declined* by 0.3 percent over the past four years.
