Utila's MPC-ECDSA Protocol: A Deep Dive Our product utilizes several MPC protocols for tasks such as distributed key generation, distributed signing, and key rotation/refresh. One of the most complex tasks we handle is computing a threshold ECDSA signature for distributed signing. This process aims to sign a transaction privately, ensuring that neither Utila nor the client learns the other party’s share of the private key. The challenge with ECDSA lies in its non-linear structure, which complicates decentralization for MPC protocol designers. Numerous protocols have been suggested in the literature to tackle this task. את סיגי הכרתי כי אבא שלה היה חבר של אבא שלי עוד באיראן. ובשבתות הייתי צועדת לצד אבא ואמא את כל הדרך מרמת שרת עד קריית יובל שם היה הבית של סיגי שאמא שלה תמיד הניחה לכבודנו קערה מלאה פירות עם סכין בצד ולצידה צלחת עם עוגיות טעימות. בשלהי שנות ה70 קראו לזה "כיבוד לאורחים." לא אהבתי את הפירות. אהבתי את העוגיות ואהבתי את סיגי. היא הייתה ילדה טובת מזג וצחקנית והיא הייתה בגילי והיא תמיד עשתה לי מצב רוח טוב. אחר כך ההורים שלה עברו דירה והפסקנו לצעוד אליהם בשבתות ולא ראיתי את סיגי יותר, החברה השמחה והעולצת שלי לימי שבת נעלמה משך למעלה מ 40 שנה. לפני כמה שבועות ראיתי את סיגי שוב. היא ישבה על ספסל מול מצלמה של ערוץ 12 ודיברה על הבן שלה שציין באותן שעות יום הולדת בשבי החמאס. הכותרת הודיעה שמדובר "בסיגי כהן, אמו של החטוף אליה כהן" ולמרות שלא זיהיתי את חברת הילדות שלי בכלל בכל זאת נעצרתי באמצע הסלון מול הטלוויזיה כדי להקשיב לה – אישה אצילית ומרשימה ורהוטה עם כיסוי ראש ועצב בעיניים. היא סחפה אותי ברגע. התאהבתי בה בשניות. ואז הגיעה השאלה מהאולפן של עודד בן עמי. הוא רצה לדעת איך היא כאמא של חטוף מרגישה היום אחרי שחברת הכנסת גלית דיסטל אטבריאן כינתה אותה ואת שאר משפחות החטופים "זיקיות." באותו רגע הרגשתי כאילו מישהו שפך עלי סיר של מיים רותחים באמצע הסלון, מצאתי את עצמי מתיישבת על השטיח כמו מתוך אינסטינקט ומלמלתי לעצמי שאני לא יכולה יותר, פשוט לא יכולה יותר. סיגי השתהתה רגע, זה היה ניכר מאוד שאין לה מושג על מה עודד בן עמי מדבר, שהיא מופתעת, היא נשמה עמוק ואז אספה את עצמה והביעה את מורת הרוח המתבקשת מהאמירה הפוגענית שלי. אמירה שמעולם לא נאמרה. כחצי שעה אחר כך התראיינתי לאותו ערוץ מפארק סמוך לבית. "תתנצלי, תתנצלי, תתנצלי, "נזף בי גדעון אוקו מהאולפן לצד פאנל זועם במיוחד שהתפרץ לכל משפט שניסיתי לומר. "אבל הם נפגעו, תתנצלי, מה כלכך קשה לך להתנצל, תתנצלי! תתנצלי! תתנצלי!!!" זה היה ראיון כלכך אגרסיבי ולא הוגן עד שנעם פתחי שצפה בו במקרה העלה אותו לרשתות מרוב תסכול. ברגע שהסתיים הראיון אמרתי לדובר שלי – אתה חייב להשיג לי את מספר הטלפון של סיגי כהן, שכל העולם יחשוב שאני מקללת את משפחות החטופים, העיקר שהיא תדע שזה לא נכון, זה הכי חשוב לי כרגע. סיגי הקדימה אותי. היא שלחה לי הודעה לוואטסאפ ביום שלמחרת. היא כתבה לי שהתקילו אותה בערוץ 12 עם הציוץ שלי (שכוון למחאת קפלן ושצמד המילים "משפחות החטופים" מעולם לא נכתב בו). היא כתבה לי שהיא אפילו מסכימה עם הציוץ שלי אחרי שקראה אותו בעצמה. היא כתבה לי שערוץ 12 השתמש בה כדי לקדם את האג'נדה שלו. שהם הבטיחו לה מראש שהיא לא תשאל שאלה אחת פוליטית ואז הפרו את הבטחתם. שהיא זועמת. ושעכשיו אחרי שהיא מבינה את האמת – היא מצרה על תגובתה. ואז היא הוסיפה דרך אגב קטן – "היינו חברות ילדות בקריית יובל." ורק אז נפל לי האסימון – סיגי כהן האמא של החטוף אליה כהן היא בעצם סיגי שלי, חברת הילדות של ימי שבת. הדבר הטוב שיצא מהסיפור הזה הוא שהקשר חודש. כשישבתי בסלון של סיגי האמא לצד ילדיה הנפלאים זה הרגיש לי טבעי ופמליארי כאילו לא עברו למעלה מ 40 שנה מאז שישבנו בסלון ההוא בקריית יובל וצחקקנו בשקט כדי לא להפריע להורים. אבל יש לסיפור הזה גם צד אפל: שימוש ציני של תקשורת פוליטית בכאב של משפחות החטופים וזריעת קיטוב זדוני בעם בעיצומה של מלחמת קיום. אני וערוץ 12 זה לא כוחות. זה ברור לי. את מה שאני כותבת כאן יקראו רק כמה אלפים במקרה הטוב. את השידור השקרי והמסית ההוא ראו מאות אלפים. הסיבה שעודד בן עמי שיקר והכאיב לסיגי כהן ביום ההולדת של בנה החטוף הייתה לי ברורה – ביקרתי את המחאה החביבה על הערוץ, אז הוא החליט לנקום, אז מה אם הוא גורם צער מיותר לאמא של חטוף, העיקר שיש לו את הסיכה הצהובה על דש הז'קט. ביום שישי האחרון במדורת השבט של אולפן שישי חטפתי עוד הקש בגג מהערוץ הזה, הפעם זה קרה כי חיזקתי במליאה את ראש הממשלה והנאום שלי הפך ויראלי. אולי ארחיב על כך בסטטוס נפרד אבל בינתיים חשוב לי לומר לקהל המצומצם שצלח את הטקסט הארוך הזה: אין לכם נגישות למציאות. המציאות היא רק מה שעורכי התקשורת רוצים שהיא תהיה. השתדלו להיות חזקים מנטאלית כי התודעה שלכם נמצאת תחת מכבש בלתי פוסק של הסתה. ואסיים במילותיה של סיגי כהן: בעזרת השם ישועות בקרוב וכל החטופים ישובו הביתה. בכל שישי בערב כשאני מדליקה נרות אני מתפללת על כל החטופים, אבל על אליה כהן אני מתעכבת באופן מיוחד.

Writing this is hard for me. I am stepping down as @StarkWareLtd’s CEO. Vicious medical challenges at home require my undivided attention. I took a LoA a year ago, but unfortunately that wasn't nearly enough. I will stay on as a board member of both StarkWare and the @starknet Foundation. The astonishing @elibensasson, StarkWare’s President, will replace me as StarkWare’s CEO. Eli is many many wonderful things. Worth noting in this context: he is the co-inventor of STARKs, my co-founder, and we have been the closest of friends for 35 years, and closer still these past six years. I am sure he will lead StarkWare forward with talent and devotion, to great heights. I am so very proud of what we’ve built. First and foremost: the people who have joined us in building StarkWare and Starknet. I have never met so many talented and creative people. I have never met so many kind and generous people. The realization that I will no longer engage them daily is painful to me. I will likely not be present here or on Telegram. My focus will be elsewhere.
