OpenAI is working on a new "Finance" project in ChatGPT ("Connect accounts and sync recent transactions to see personalized finance widgets here") Example starting prompts include "Recommend the best credit cards based on my transactions last year", "Am I getting all the value from my credit cards?", "Do a 3 month analysis of my spending", "Create a plan to pay off my student loans" and "Can you review my transactions for fraud or suspicious activity?" The ChatGPT pricing page is also being updated for the new ChatGPT Pro Lite plan, with "5x more usage than Plus" compared to "20x more usage than Plus" with ChatGPT Pro

"Designing the tools for your models is as much an art as it is a science."
This is the insight I converged to when studying Claude Code's tool contracts.
Ultimately, design of a tool comes down to surface area.
You want the least number of tools with the maximum surface area in your domain. The tricky part is ensuring the model knows when to call the tool and that's a boundary problem.
If your tools overlap generously, the model will have a hard time picking the right one.
That's why the AskUserQuestion tool is such a nice tool because it has a clear contract boundary and covers a massive surface area: elicit any information from the user in a structured format.

I think people debate back and forth because it's just that both are good
What we need are tools that are more connected so you can jump back and forth and use the best tool for the task
If you want alt+drag, infinite canvas, see 10 variations side-by-side, spatial reasoning, direct manipulation very fast, use a canvas tool.
If you want interactions, states, animations, etc, prompting/coding is excellent

I feel like I'm going crazy for being the only one that feels liberated by designing in code because I can actually *feel* the product and interactions, as opposed to flattening it to a crude visual dimension

Yes people are designing in code but the designs are bad. I can tell in two seconds if something was vibe coded. Treating the design as the main artifact and source of truth rather than the code is the real alpha. Companies that nail visual design will win.
