@CrimsonDesert_ Why apologize? AI, in one form or another, will be in every single video game. I don't get why devs feel the need to bend over for the few folks who can't accept the reality that AI will be in every single thing - from video games to your fridge (it already is). Man up.

During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction. Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it. We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency. We sincerely apologize for these oversights. We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.

@CrimsonDesert_ The problem is that you used it in the first place. Not only that, but your argument falls short when there are thousands of free paintings that can be used for games like this. While I had fun with the game -the story, I will not stop my refund process. 0 tolerance for GenAI

I hope this kind of deranged post teaches Pearl Abyss exactly why using Ai "Art" in your games is so dangerous (no matter how small). Anything related to Crimson Desert will now be labelled as plagiarism by the dumbest people on earth for the rest of its existence.

I need to give props to the marketing team of Crimson Desert. They actually never really lied about the game and its features. Even the performance, which I was the most skeptical about, is actually fine. I swear, I was sure this game would run like absolute dog poop, but no. The optimization is actually fine. Could it be better? Sure, I could use some more frames, but it's fine. They told you what to expect from the game, and they delivered what they said they would. Which is even more baffling when you see so many people expecting things from the game that the devs never said it would have. And far worse, expecting things from the game that the devs actually told you it WOULD NOT have.

@thegameawards I enjoyed it until I found out they didn't disclose that they used GenAI art. Now, I hope for the studio to crash and burn. Developers who use GenAI don't deserve shit.

@NikTek I preordered it for PS5 as a physical edition, having checked Steam before to see if it is marked as using GenAI. I hope this is @CrimsonDesert_ last game. They don't deserve to be devs.

The main problem with the AI generated pictures in Crimson Desert is that Steam requires developers to report visible and in-game AI generated assets before publishing the game, as far as I've seen Pearl Abyss hasn't disclosed any of this before publishing the game.
