Yesterday we took delivery of our new appliance, call sign 28 Papa 6. This is a state it the art light rescue pump, the vehicle is smaller but it has all the kit we need to tackle any incident. HIWFRS Fleet Maintenance have done a great job getting it ready for us. 👏🏻🚒💦🔥

Firefighters are currently tackling a waste lorry fire on Clarence Road, Worksop. The road is currently shut so please take alternative routes. A lot of smoke is issuing from the lorry, so we advise you to close your windows and doors.

Our service is in mourning for our colleague, Atherton Community Fire Station watch manager Andy Leyland, who has tragically passed away while off duty over the Christmas period. Flags have been lowered at our stations this weekend to mark our sadness and respect. Our thoughts are with Andy’s family, friends and close colleagues at such a difficult time.

Today Lambeth & Soho carried out inter-agency training with @mettaskforce in the stables on Great Scotland Yard. Crews helped fitting head collars to the horses and practiced leading them to safety in the event of an emergency! 🚒 🚓 🐎

Tech Rescue companies were able to safely remove a man who was stuck in an elevator with a blind shaft at 53 State street. Firefighters used ropes harnesses and a tripod system, to lift the man up approximately 70 feet to the opening on the 21st floor.
