We can talk about mNAV compression, zombie companies with negative earnings, and grifting executive compensation packages all day. But the truth is BTCTCs are a flop for a more fundamental reason. There is no MOAT to being a bitcoin exposure vehicle in 2026, they don't actually solve problems for anybody. Truth is, bitcoin is no longer hard to buy, not hard to store, or hard to hold in a securitized wrapper. At least with REITs (the real estate equivalent to bitcoin treasury companies), the value proposition actually makes sense because purchasing and maintaining a portfolio of real estate in the real world is extremely difficult for an ordinary retail investor.

I think it is insane that the market is pricing Metaplanet like it's IBIT and has zero capacity to increase it's Bitcoin exposure in the future. Especially when you consider at the start of their Bitcoin strategy each share represented 46 sats and now each share represents 2,146. That is a 46.6x increase in Bitcoin exposure, yet apparently that level of execution warrants zero premium. If Wall Street saw that growth in any AI stock, it’d be trading at 200x earnings, but because it’s denominated in Bitcoin, the crowd averts its eyes. The real question is, can I stay solvent longer than the market can stay irrational? I think I can. It sucks that the valuation influences the efficiency of the strategy for sure, but I still believe we are just in the midst of irrational sentiment in the Bitcoin treasury space and fortunately for me, this is when the real money is made. I started analysis on this stock when it was $3 and that was my cost basis, and people loved me when it went up to $15+. Then, they began to hate :). That is to be expected, but a lot of people forget that my entry was not theirs. A lot of people entered later than me and projected their emotions on me while sitting on unrealized losses (or some cases realized I'm sure). Just remember, there are two sides to every trade. In order for you to be positive, other people need to buy and sell at higher valuations than you. In a trade, everyone on both sides thinks they are getting the better end of the deal. This is why there will never be consensus. Not everybody can win. Conviction in Bitcoin as the new monetary base is what grounds me in this trade. Metaplanet is fundamentally a short fiat/long Bitcoin trade and I'll take that any day. Amazingly, Metaplanet is still up 35% on the year which is currently 3x that of the S&P 500. Zooming out and looking at the broader picture, the macro landscape, and how vitally Bitcoin is needed can give some very valuable perspective. They have a super clean balance sheet with their debt currently being covered by their Bitcoin NAV 139 times and I am very much looking forward to Phase II. This is still by far my favorite investment for long term growth and I will be continuing to allocate. I think this brutal level of volatility is to be expected when the apex asset begins to clash with the legacy system. The takeover is going to be anything but pretty. Bitcoin is the future, and I simply cannot be bearish on that fundamental belief. Thank you to those who are selling shares to me.
