I made a video about my torrid time at South Downs Way 100. I've never wanted to get hit by a train or fall off a cliff so much. youtube.com/watch?v=kOtIG7…

@sagharborcap I never thought I'd feel like an authority on how to walk into any hotel as if you're staying there as a paying guest while asking where the bathroom is.

@TheStroBro No, I don't buy shoes specific to recovery (my point here is that no such shoes exist). If I want to recover, I'll lay down on the couch...

@krispeterrun @theiaincameron UK, US and Netherlands don’t have the “the” in their formal name, though it is used in normal speech. The other one is The Bahamas.

Sometimes all you have to do is look at a country’s borders and know it’s got a bonkers past. The Gambia in Africa —one of only two countries in the world to possess the definite article— is a study in colonial carve-ups and historical quirk. 🇬🇲 1.

I’m just going to roll up to my next race at 50-60% body fat, so I have a competitive advantage. You know, because the birds do it.
Tim Noakes@ProfTimNoakes

All on carbohydrates, no doubt? Actually all on fat - "Before birds set off on their migrations, some 50–60 per cent of their body mass can be fat, which they then use as a primary fuel source to power them through their flights". sciencefocus.com/nature/birds-m…. Yet the same bird biologists continue to believe that humans are so different that they need their carbs for endurance performances. “'For endurance exercise in mammals – like us, for example – we can’t support intensive exercise with fat; it’s all carbohydrate,' says Dr Alexander Gerson, a professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in the US". But it's not intensive exercise, Doctor, it's very prolonged exercise.

From a modern political standpoint, the name the British Isles when referring to Britain, Ireland, Isle of Man etc, is highly controversial (especially in Ireland). But as a geographical term it has a history that stretches back to Classical Greece and Rome. 1/n

Running videos on social media are weirder than ever "I ran a marathon in $10 shoes from Temu" "I ran a 50 miler without training" Next "I ate only tuna for a year and finished twelve Parkruns at once" "I completed UTMB wearing flip-flops on my hands" "I am AI and I won Comrades"

What are Strava PMs smoking these days? Strava instant workouts are so bad - 20x800m at VO2max followed by 8k threshold? Classic case of how AI slop can be used to ruin the product.

@mattglowinsky @CoachDistance 55 miles in 6 days with 60 mins per run is 4:09 per km or 6:04 per mile - I'm not sure I'd make it past Tuesday! For most people, it is a lot of time per week (or a lot of speed!)

This is one reason why HS distance running is so deep right now. 50-55 mpw for the typical HS boy wasn’t that typical in the 90/00’s.

@rustybrick @Google I think people can understand them taking action against SerpApi, but people dislike the hypocrisy it takes to pretend they're taking a moral stand to preserve the rights of content creators.

My soul withers when a runner says, "I want efficient training." Running is hard bc it's not efficient. You have to put in hours and hours of running every week for YEARS to glimpse your potential. Endurance running is a patient, long-term endeavor. I think that's awesome.

@Daveed_Loughlin @MartinSLewis I'm not sure. Have you experienced English shops refusing Scottish banknotes despite knowing they are legal currency? That sounds very annoying.
