@philsoutside @dhh @micsolana So far it doesn't extend to the mentally ill. However, it will in about a year. They probably wouldn't do it for a broken arm though - unless they give you fentanyl to "help" you get through it - then its just a matter of time.

@dhh @micsolana Are those numbers accounting for ALL maid deaths? If someone has depression, broken arm, anything, they will label that thing as the cause of death. Hitler would truly be proud of Canada’s eugenics program.

@fchollet In your YC talk, you mention that code is verifiable. Can you expand on that? I feel that verification of arbitrary code is still very expensive even with LLMs.

@PeterDiamandis The problem is, if you don't actually know a given area well yourself, you tend to believe the argument that sounds the most convincing vs the one that is the most correct.

If AI can now solve math, discover physics and chemistry breakthroughs faster than human PhDs, why are we still training humans to be physicists? Serious question. Should education shift from 'learn to do X' to 'learn to direct AI doing X'? The wrong direction costs a generation their careers.

@elonmusk I'm wondering, if only AI reads AI written content, is there any benefit? It seems like the answers is "no", but maybe I am missing something.

AI tools right now are more expensive than my international team. We can't afford them and they are heavily subsidized all the way up. What happens when they 5x in cost? The bubble is popping soon.

@CaptainInsightX I'd tell them to use AI if they want. If they don't think that would work then they should probably hire someone. It's their company after all.

@tobi We would be better off if government officials could legally just print as much money as they want and deposit in their bank account - tax free. Today, huge, wasteful projects are needed to get a tiny bit of grift.

@GaryHoberman Get better test coverage. Read the reasoning traces and see if you agree If there is no recognition of your desired patterns in the code or the thinking trace then you are right it’s impossible to support.

Lots of engineers think AI codegen is only good enough to do little bug fixes here and there If you tell them you can ship 15k LOC of ai gen code to prod they think you have lost your mind. It’s so so early. And also those engineers are living in 2025.

I've reached a point in my engineering career where I just dont care anymore I used to want to solve complex problems, design new systems, learn new architecture etc. But something clicked in my brain last year and I just don't give a fuck like zero drive to keep doing this

I’m so thankful my job isn’t to predict the future. Things change so fast right now. Anyone telling you where things will be in 6 months is probably wrong and definitely trying to sell you something.

@garrytan True. A good engineer now has to be able to get over the pain of a lost day at the slot machine very quickly and keep going again. I've had several days of disillusionment where this happens - "should I just hand code things tomorrow, should I just try the slot machine again?"
