I had one of the craziest nights of my life yesterday, and I still can't stop thinking about it. Let me tell you guys about it. I was out with a couple of friends at a lounge in Oregun, Ikeja. Everything was going fine. We were eating, drinking, dancing, laughing and just having a good time. At some point, one of the ladies in our group stepped outside to answer a phone call. After about 20 minutes, she still hadn't returned. We thought maybe she was still on the call but when we went to check, she was nowhere to be found. The guy she came with was already calling her repeatedly, but she wasn't picking up. In my mind, I was thinking maybe she had issue with the guy and she left angrily. A few minutes later, one of the lounge security men walked up to us and asked, "Are you people the ones that came with the lady in the black gown?" We said yes. Then he dropped the bombshell: "Police officers just picked her up and forced her into their vehicle." At first, we couldn't believe what we heard. Without wasting a second, all of us rushed out. In fact, I'm not even sure we paid for our drinks before leaving. We split into different cars and started searching around Oregun and Ikeja for the police vehicle. About 10 minutes later, one of our friends called and said he had found them around Opebi/Allen. We all sped there and to our surprise, we met them trying to pick up other ladies. That was when everything went out of control. We confronted them, raised an alarm, and people around started gathering. The crowd became so large that the officers panicked. In the chaos, their windshield got smashed, one of the doors was damaged, and we insisted that the two other ladies inside the vehicle should come down immediately. As they tried to flee the scene, they even crashed into a parked car along the road before speeding off. I honestly don't know what to call what happened last night, but if armed men forcefully drag a lady into a vehicle without identifying themselves and without any explanation, what exactly is the difference between that and kidnapping? Thankfully, everyone with us made it home safely, nobody was injured, and those other ladies were also able to get out of the vehicle. This morning, I woke up replaying the whole incident in my head. It's scary to think that if we hadn't gone looking for our friend immediately, the story might have ended very differently. And yes… I'm currently on my way back to the lounge to settle the bill we abandoned in the middle of all the chaos. Last night was one for the books. P.S. The video was taken when we were all having fun before the incident.
