If knowledge is power, and ignorance is bliss, is the majority of strife in the world caused by the Powerful searching for bliss?

I’m all for women’s rights. But I’m totally against demonising Muslims. So, don’t come @ me with racist prescriptions on how Islam is the reason women don’t get rights. It’s not! Several Muslim countries have had women lead them, including Pakistan, Turkiye, Bangladesh, Indonesia. While the US has never had a female president. Pakistan gave women the right to vote in 1947. In Switzerland, women didn’t have that right till 1971. The Taliban don’t speak for us so don’t use that one example to colour all. There are plenty of rotten apples among other religions too who exploit women. So don’t stereotype!

Was in a taxi near Euston yesterday, and saw two men waving a Union Jack flag on a pole, storming along, shouting in an intimidating way to everyone walking by peacefully. It was both grotesque and ridiculous. Don’t let anyone fool you that this is patriotic.

There’s a huge flaw in @narindertweets' framing here. The women on stage were not mocking “brown women”. They were making a political statement about an ideology, a religious practice, and what they see as the oppression of women under certain interpretations of Islam. Whether people agree with them or not, that is plainly different from racial hatred. A niqab is not a race. Islam is not a race. Criticising religious customs is not the same as attacking an ethnicity. Ironically, these were young European women voluntarily covering themselves to demonstrate exactly what many women in parts of the world are pressured or compelled to do permanently. The reveal into normal Western clothing was symbolic: freedom, individuality, visibility and choice. You may dislike the message, but calling it the “sexualisation and humiliation of brown women” feels emotionally manipulative and deliberately racialised. No women were degraded on that stage. Nobody was named, targeted or abused. It was political theatre aimed at a belief system and its symbols, not at women because of their skin colour.
Narinder Kaur@narindertweets

In this country, people have the right to criticise religion. But there’s a clear line between criticism and the degradation of women. What we’re seeing here is the sexualisation and humiliation of brown women. That should never be acceptable. This isn’t clever or empowering. it’s the public humiliation of one group of women by another group of women. Sad and pathetic.

@owenjonesjourno We have cops with assault rifles around jewish areas in toronto because of the targeted hate marches in jewish neighbourhoods. As the child of a muslim, you are being used to villanize your own culture, as well as the right to criticize and confront contrary opinions.

@Adriezy1 @firasmodad @Alonso_GD It might seem like a bad idea to you, it might not be compatible with a western liberal society which is why it should not be in western society, but I doubt mockery is going to make them want to leave. It's just as impotent as waving flags and protesting.

Islamophobia is socially accepted in the West. This sells the idea that if you remove a Muslim woman’s clothes, you’re “liberating” her. No. You’re harassing her. It puts Muslim women at risk, but it doesn’t matter, *bc they are Muslim*. Horrid, vile racism at this march

Yesterday's march was peaceful, patriotic and filled with decent Brits who are concerned about the direction of our country. Starmer should apologise for how he smeared many, many thousands of ordinary patriots. Incredibly, I think less of that man every single day.

Gad Saad’s latest book, Suicidal Empathy: Dying to Be Kind (released May 12, 2026), perfectly captures the mindset behind the media coverage in this post. The incident in Modena—where a 31-year-old man of North African origin deliberately drove into pedestrians, injuring eight (four critically), then exited with a knife—shows yet another case of misplaced Western empathy: headlines that anthropomorphize the car (“car rams into…”) while downplaying the driver’s agency and background. Saad argues this “suicidal empathy” prioritizes feelings toward perpetrators or out-groups over protecting citizens and acknowledging patterns, eroding common sense and societal safety. This post is a textbook illustration of the parasitic ideas his book dismantles.

I wonder why the "car" did this? 🤔

@MandyYoung77631 @JohnCleese My father is muslim. This is not arbitrary hate. Your declaration stifles dialogue because if people cry racist instead of addressing cultural incompatabilities, a 16yo might get stabbed and drown in his own blood while handcuffed for a false accusation of racism.

I read everywhere about the 'hard right' This the term used to describe people who are Islamosceptic - that is, people who are doubtful about the merits of a religion that demands child marriage, the beating of women, and death to all who oppose it Perhaps 'sensible right' would be a better description

@JohnCleese Language matters. hard right is used to describe those who caricature and demonise an entire group of human beings in order to promote a very specific nationalist agenda to one’s own ends. You certainly demonise Muslims and it’s not a good look.
