@SenSchumer Fuk that! He should've turned the dessert to glass. Case closed.

I’m glad Trump backed off and is desperately searching for any sort of exit ramp from his ridiculous bluster.

@GovPritzker Sir, when can we expect your resignation? I would think that being named in the Epstein files by a former democrat president is pretty damming. Your cousin the apparent pedophile has resigned. You next fatboy!!

@JulianaStratton Your policies are pritzkers failed policies. You will not win.

@JulianaStratton In the last gubernatorial election Pritzker was announced the winner less than five minutes after polls closed with only 42% of precincts reporting. "Free and fair"? HARDLY!!

BREAKING: Actor Ben Stiller just posted this letter to America:
“I love our country. But, like so many of us, I’m concerned about the future of our democracy.
We’ve now seen the violent murder of American citizens, killed in cold blood in broad daylight by masked ICE agents. These were our neighbors, their lives ended by armed militias entering our communities with impunity. They were denied due process in life and dignity in death by an administration who refuted the reality the world saw, shifting blame to the victims and creating false narratives about their lives and those fateful days.
The Framers of our Constitution believed in checks and balances to power, adding the Bill of Rights specifically to protect individual liberties from potential government overreach. And yet here we are. Innocent people are being harassed, separated from their families, and in some cases killed.
Peaceful protest is a constitutionally protected form of free speech that is essential to our existence as a democracy. We have the right to disagree with the actions of the government we elect. The First Amendment also names and protects the freedom of the press. And yet journalists and political commentators have been arrested. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”.
Our elected representatives, from the President and members of Congress to the people they appoint and approve, have a responsibility to act with integrity and honesty. To uphold our ideals and values as a nation. To not lie to us, in the face of the plain facts.
We must demand that they represent the expressed will of the people they serve, including removing ICE from our streets. We must demand justice and an end to this lethal chaos.
I believe we can reverse this slide toward division and hate. Facing this moment with a return to empathy and love for one another might sound naive, but it’s ultimately what will move our country forward and out of this.”

ICE just detained a 5-year-old child.
Don’t tell us this is about “the worst of the worst.” That’s a lie.
Absolutely vile.

Five years ago today, our nation and our democracy experienced one of its darkest days. A violent mob incited by President Trump ransacked the Capitol to stop the certification of a free and fair election. Brave police officers were beaten, crushed, bear sprayed, and maced while defending our democracy. The halls of Congress were desecrated, and the certification of the election was delayed.
As tragic as that day was, equally so have been the events that followed. Later that night, with blood still staining the Capitol grounds, many of the President’s allies still voted against certifying the election. And in the past year, the President and his allies in Congress have intensified their effort to obliterate the memory of that day and rewrite history to falsely portray a violent, anti-democratic insurrection as a patriotic expression of love.
The President’s first day back in the Oval Office was punctuated by his decision to pardon or grant clemency to every single insurrectionist who violently attacked the Capitol, including those who beat and gouged police officers. Since then, he has placed fellow election deniers into key administration roles, and his Justice Department has fired or demoted the prosecutors and investigators who were doing their jobs by holding violent attackers accountable.
The insurrection and attack on the U.S. Capitol were among the most dangerous threats to the rule of law in America since our nation’s founding. And the effort to condone that violence has only magnified the danger. We must never allow the truth of what happened five years ago today to be forgotten or rewritten, and must remain ever vigilant against efforts to undermine the principle at the heart of our democracy — that every vote counts.

@SpeakerPelosi You're on tape admitting your involvement and not calling up the national guard, or have you forgotten?

Five years ago today, the United States Capitol was attacked in a violent insurrection incited by the President of the United States for one purpose: to overturn a free and fair election and cling to power in clear violation of the Constitution. January 6th was not an aberration and it was not spontaneous. It was the culmination of a sustained assault on truth, on the rule of law, and one of the most sacred principles of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power.
On that day, Members of Congress, staff, and journalists were hunted and forced to flee for their lives as the halls of Congress were desecrated. Law enforcement officers were beaten, crushed, and scarred—physically and psychologically—while defending the seat of American democracy. Some paid the ultimate price. We honor the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of the U.S. Capitol Police and the law enforcement officers who stood their ground so that the work of democracy could continue.
We must speak plainly: January 6th was an attempted coup. It was an effort to nullify millions of lawful votes and subvert the will of the American people. But the attack failed because of the courage of public servants who gave proof through the night that our flag was still there by refusing to bend to pressure, threats, or intimidation. On that day, the Constitution held and we kept the Republic.
Yet the danger did not end when the Capitol was secured. The same falsehoods that ignited the violence on that day continue to be spread. The same contempt for democratic norms continues to corrode our Republic. There is an ongoing effort to rewrite history, excuse the inexcusable, and glorify those who attacked our democracy — including with blanket pardons which sanitize an attack on the Constitution itself and endorse lawlessness. The American people must remain vigilant that those who seek to forget, minimize, or excuse January 6th invite its repetition.
On this fifth anniversary, remembrance alone is not enough. We have a responsibility to defend democracy with clarity and resolve: to protect the right to vote, to uphold the rule of law, to reject political violence in all its forms, and to demand accountability for those who would place themselves above the Constitution. The strength of our democracy lies in our willingness to confront the threats against it.
January 6th stands as a stark warning and a solemn charge. We must choose truth over lies, courage over cowardice, and democracy over autocracy. The future of our Republic depends on it.
