🚨 I just dropped a bill to END the airport chaos caused by Senate Democrats defunding DHS. Tired of 5-hour security lines at BWI stretching outside the terminal? Sick of unpaid TSA workers calling out and ICE agents being pulled from border duties just to manage crowds? My bill makes airport security more shutdown-proof by authorizing the Maryland Aviation Administration to participate in the TSA Screening Partnership Program (SPP). What the bill does: - Makes it easier and faster for airports like BWI to switch to qualified private screening companies. - Keeps exact same TSA security standards, equipment, training, and oversight — but gives airports flexible staffing that doesn’t collapse during funding standoffs. - Private contractors get paid on time, hire quicker, and avoid the mass call-outs we’re seeing right now. - SPP airports (like San Francisco and Kansas City) are running smoothly with short lines while the rest of the country suffers. This is the smart, proven fix. I want to thank @RepAndyHarrisMD for the idea. Congressman Harris just sent a letter yesterday urging Maryland to apply for SPP at BWI immediately. My bill authorizes the MAA to implement the program. Take the politics out of flying.
