An upstate NY county wants to impose an income tax. This is what happens when the political class gets released from its duty to make the best use of every public dollar, and instead just goes looking for more dollars and more demagoguery.

@JonnyRoot_ Now put up the play in regular speed, not slo-mo to sell a point. Cavs player pushed off big time, Brunson might have acted a little bit to sell the offensive foul, some might say gamesmanship, but this wasn’t a flop!!!

The NBA has rules against flopping, yet they almost never call it during a game. They do the opposite… They reward players for flopping. Knicks’ Jalen Brunson is a good example:

Clavicular says Sydney Sweeney is mid and would become invisible with an average body “Some people think that Sydney Sweeney is extremely attractive. But I would say that she’s pretty malformed. Her upper maxilla is extremely recessed, right. She’s got the eyes of doom with no infraorbital support” “She’s really not that much of a looker in her face. I think that a lot of people with porn brains find her attractive because of her body”

@JetsssM I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 43 years. I hate bike lanes. They make our city look like a socialist metropolis. Within a year or two - there won’t be any cars on the road in NYC.

NYC’s bike lanes have turned our streets into a total mess — like a Third World city. Rude bikers ignore traffic lights, ride however they want, and almost never get punished. They don’t need insurance like drivers do, but they cause chaos anyway. This video shows they just don’t care. Enough is enough. Rip out the bike lanes and fix our streets. 🚲➡️🗑️” video credit @ImMeme0

A disturbing scene unfolds on a New York City street: NYPD officers ask a visibly distraught man if he needs an ambulance, while a deep, untreated gash bleeds across his forehead. Clearly in acute psychiatric crisis, he requires immediate medical care and sustained mental-health intervention. No civilized city should allow individuals in such condition to roam its public spaces unprotected. This incident epitomizes New York’s accelerating decline. Once the world’s leading metropolis, the city now buckles under an unchecked mental-health and homelessness crisis, widespread disorder, and a collapsing social fabric. Public safety and basic dignity have eroded sharply, turning neighborhoods into zones of visible suffering.

Another video has surfaced showing individuals engaged in a violent altercation, with NYPD officers intervening to restore order—only for the situation to culminate in an arrest. This underscores the urgent need for stronger public safety measures and effective street-level control. The Mayor of New York City and the Governor of New York must demonstrate stronger leadership, including a critical reassessment of recruitment practices that prioritize DEI criteria over competence and fitness for duty in law enforcement. Incidents of this nature should not be tolerated in a major American city.

As part of an extended answer about how he views his legacy in the game, Joel Embiid talks about his son hearing profane chants directed towards his father on the road: "We go on the road, they're chanting. I hate that he hears that, but he has to understand that that's the way the world is and you've just got to live and understand that there's going to be negativity, there's going to be positivity. You've got to go through it and it's okay."

@angiewong That’s some take Ms/Mrs Wong!! Ken Griffin is a thief, stealing from retail investors, selling stuff he doesn’t own thru naked shorting. He makes Bernie Madoff look like a choir boy. But hey, who cares if he’s a POS, just as long as you get your district gets $$ thru tax revenues

I just want to personally thank Mayor Zohran Mamdani for scaring away the billionaire class from NYC and helping bring billions in tax revenue to my district of Brickell Miami, where Ken Griffin’s Citadel is building its massive Class A office tower next to my office and bringing thousands of high earning professionals to the area. The economic shift into Downtown Miami is truly transformative. Billions in new investments, new jobs, new infrastructure, and a growing tax base can help fund schools, transportation, and the modernization of Miami as it evolves into the new Wall Street of America. Keep the expats coming! @ZohranKMamdani #kengriffen #citadel #miami

The impact of the neophyte Socialist Mayor releasing an immature video arrogantly (and naively) targeting entrepreneur and business titan Ken Griffin will continue to have devastating effects on New York City. It sends a very clear message that New York City is closed for business by explicitly telling businesses and founders (and workers!) to move elsewhere. The subsequent brain drain, loss of people and capital, loss of jobs and businesses of all sizes further compounds with the loss of the extraordinary generosity for all types of cultural and charitable institutions in New York City. A real capstone for the amateur Mayor’s first 100 days 🤡🤡📉📉
Bracha@brachahalperin

Citadel CEO Ken Griffin tells CNBC that he will be expanding his company in Miami in reaction to NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s viral video, which made Griffin the poster boy for his tax-the-rich campaign. "The only decision that we’ve made with no regrets in the last few days is to expand the size of our office footprint in our new Miami headquarters." "In reaction to New York, we filed a permit with the city of Miami. We've added several hundred thousand square feet of new space in our new building." "We will add far more jobs in Miami over the next decade as an immediate and direct consequence of the mayor's poor decision here, with respect to his posting of that video."

*Update* I communicated with Ken earlier, and I expressed my dismay over the Mayor targeting his family outside their private residence. I also asked him to reconsider his decision to withdraw from New York City. The goal now must be to stop the narrative that New Yorkers who worked hard to achieve the American Dream are somehow the enemy. Coming from a modest upbringing, working hard, and achieving the American Dream should never make someone a villain in America. Yet that is exactly the message too many are sending today. It is especially troubling coming from politicians who grew up with every advantage imaginable, yet lecture working people and self-made business leaders about struggle and fairness. New York has always been a city where people from humble beginnings could build something for themselves, create jobs, and give their children a better life. @NYCMayor must stop dividing our city by demonizing success and those who invested in our communities and helped keep New York strong. The people who earned the opportunity to live on Park Avenue want the same things as the people living on Park Place in Brooklyn: safe streets, opportunity, and a clean city where they can raise their families with dignity and hope. My message to Ken and to other business leaders in New York City is this: Stand your ground. Do not let irresponsible rhetoric drive you out of this city. Our futures are connected, and New York only succeeds when we stop dividing people and remember we are all headed toward the same destination: a successful city.

@ericadamsfornyc Oh stop sucking up to your buddy Ken and try working to lower costs for New Yorkers the way Mamdani does every day. People don't mind that other people are rich: what we mind is rich people being insulated from the taxes and financial burdens WE have to pay because they don't.
