Using the internet these days feels like constantly stepping on rakes. Every time you open a site it asks you for a damned code.

@karpathy We need a system where each email costs (say) $0.05 or a call costs a dollar. This will quickly kill the volume game. Spammers have no incentive to stop because you need just a handful of clicks or responses from hundreds/thousands of outreaches to make it worth it

I get ~10 spam calls per day (various automated voicemails, "loan pre-approval" etc) and ~5 spam messages per day (usually phishing). - I have AT&T Active Armor, all of the above still slips through. - All of the above is always from new, unique numbers so blocking doesn't work. - I am on all Do Not Call lists. - I have iOS "Silence Unknown Callers" on, but even if it catches & silences them I still get the notifications. Not sure if other people are seeing something similar or figured out anything that works

There may not be future for many things people study for but there will never be shortage of problems humans have and there will be always acute shortage of people who can solve these problems. We often confuse degrees for milestones. What the world has always valued is people who solve their problems. With or without degrees.

Mathematicians searched up to N = 10⁴⁰ for solutions to this equation and found only the original ones Ramanujan discovered: N = 3, 4, 5, 7, 15. It’s recently been proven - there are no others.

Extremely aggravating how the 3 C's in Pacific Ocean are pronounced differently. Also the 3 A's in aggravating. Also the 3 E's in extremely.

Does any company make "dumb" refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, etc.? I'm tired of these smart products breaking down every three years. My grandparents had the same fridge for 50 years. It can be done.

I get so many emails every day that it's becoming unmanageable. If I reply "no thanks", the sender tries to convince me otherwise. If I don't reply, I get a "just bumping this up" email. Each email seems like it's (at least somewhat) custom written for me, so the spam filter doesn't catch it. And this is going to get worse and worse with AI. I've simply started to block emails that I don't want to deal with. What I really want is karma for email accounts. If I downvote the email, it should harm deliverability in future. Only emails with impeccable karma should land in my inbox.
