Hey @thetrainline you might want to reconsider your promotion with @Dairylea it’s seemingly impossible to claim one of the vouchers which are advertised. Not a great look and I’d argue false advertising!

“The Police Federation is, as we have already noted, a statutory body created by Parliament. Its membership, whom it does not currently serve as well as it could, do not join voluntarily but become members automatically on taking up the office of constable. We believe it would be best for the Federation to reform from within, with the support of its members, on the basis of the Normington proposals. However, if that reform is not taken forward, it would be derelict of Parliament and the Government to stand aside and watch the Federation continue to let its members down.” Keith Vaz, Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee Reform of the Police Federation 18th Report of Session 2013-2014 In the absence of having an alternative representative body or being able to join a trade union, police officers need access to a highly effective representative organisation to be their safeguard and their voice to government and Chief Officers. Many police officers, like me, are concerned that PFEW does not offer such representation and the Judgment supports our concerns. The Judgment and subsequent actions of the PFEW are, in my view, in breach of some or all of the duties that Parliament imposed on the PFEW. NPCC have just published data from their LARGEST integrity screening project. Away from the predictably selective, axe-grinding reports elsewhere, here’s the simple, full factual picture from the data: 📊 Over 307,000 officers, staff, volunteers screened ✅ Of which, 99.85% showed ‘NO CONCERN’ (not even need for disciplinary or vetting review) ❗️Of the 461 ‘concern’ cases, just 9 (5 officers, 4 staff), or 0.003% of everyone, amounted to criminal investigation trigger. 3 of these related to sexual offences (1 officer, 2 staff) 👮‍♀️For officers, 99.87% had no concerns raised. Staff 99.83%, volunteers 99.85% 🏙️ Met police officers: 99.77% no concern 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Police Scotland 99.98% ✅ PSNI 99.99% 🌇 West Mids 99.75% ✅ GMP 99.99% ✅ W.Yorks 99.97% ✅ Several forces (e.g. Devon & Cornwall) have a PERFECT 100%! Surely a boon for public confidence? The police are the public etc, but are clearly (and rightly) held at a higher professional standard to uphold law. E.g. What do you think the %s might be running 307,000 people from other professions through the same screening? Where else would you get 99.8%+? Those who make the laws? news.npcc.police.uk/releases/resul…

This would be a little easier to take were it not coming from a man who has done so much to interfere in and undermine policing in London. The unending damage being done by politicians to policing is red as well as blue …

"I've read the Home Secretary's article - it is irresponsible." Mayor of London Sadiq Khan tells #R4Today it's not appropriate for Suella Braverman to be 'actively intervening and influencing policing decisions' after she accused the Met of bias over the Gaza marches.

Britain is broken. We need a new economics. In this thread I explore just what that new economics should be - and how it must be built on the basis of am partnership between the state and private sectors. This is the basis of hope, I suggest......

There is a way out of the economic mess the UK is in. It only requires two things. The first is knowledge. The second is an admission of past mistakes. That’s it, in a nutshell. A thread…..

@LushCop The pay freeze and abysmal pay rises of the past decade or so are the exact reason people are complaining that it isn’t enough!

@PFEW_HQ I’ll be honest and say that’s better than I was expecting but it doesn’t hide the fact it is yet another below inflation pay rise that further erodes our pay which will fall even further behind where it should be. @PFEW_HQ it’s time to fight for industrial rights!

BREAKING NEWS: Officers to receive a pay increase of 7 per cent from 1 September this year. A step in the right direction, but fails to take account the real term cut of 17% officers have suffered since 2000. #FairPayForPolice

@WecopsCaroline It’s still a pay cut in real terms due to it being below the level of inflation.

I know this will make me even more unpopular, and no-one can gloss over the difficulties in the Police Service at the moment. But it’s childish to tar them all with the same brush. We are incredibly lucky with the vast majority of UK Police who risk personal danger every day.

Talk about getting their priorities right. Officers don’t care about another bar on their medals. We want action on Pensions, pay & conditions, industrial rights ballot, and recruitment & retention issues to be addressed. Otherwise you won’t have any need for long service awards.
Police Federation of England and Wales@PFEW_HQ

Police officers will receive an additional ‘bar’ on their Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct when they reach 30 years’ service and a second bar for 40 years’ service, thanks to the tireless efforts of @PFEW_JP and @Griffindares.
