Just the list of things it was decided: these tracks will be reconditioned but new tracks over there, close this road crossing but build a bridge for that road. 4/

Yesterday morning a brand new piece of track on the Kitchener Line was put into service. This means two trains heading in opposite directions can pass each other between Georgetown and Kitchener GO, something previously impossible until trains reached east of Georgetown GO.

@Metrolinx can only accept the $5 fee for a freedom of information request fee by cash or cheque at their office on Bay Street. 🤦 No online options available. 🤦

There still needs to be the negotiation for how much the landowner should be paid. How long that takes depends on how much the landowner tries to draw things out and when the Ontario government finally puts its foot down and basically says "nope, market value, we're done here".

Also, if I understand the expropriations process correctly, which I might not, this is just a hearing of necessity, and it doesn't mean that The Province on behalf of Metrolinx has actually acquired the land yet, only that the province can do so and the owner cannot stop it.

We should really consider getting EMUs for GO expansion. EMUs would allow us to have significantly faster trips as well as the ability to add more stops. There's a reason world class regional rail systems use them.
