@macsquirelera I’m thinking a lot of these would go from suburban GO stations to other communities. like from Brampton GO to the north and south, or from Guelph to Kitchener, Hamilton to Brantford.

We were at this event representing passengers. Let's get building - the federal cuts to passenger service in western Canada in the 1980s were a big mistake.
Devin Dreeshen@DevinDVote

It was an honour to host the first Passenger Rail Forum and to engage with so many passionate rail experts from across the world. Premier @ABDanielleSmith and I are leading Alberta into a future where our transportation network is modern, reliable, and works for all Albertans.

@JessicaBellTO Could a city theoretically remove a lane to replace it with on-street parking for an indeterminate amount of time before converting the parking to a bike lane?

The Conservatives have dropped a new 11-page amendment to Bill 212.
We'll be debating the amendment in committee this afternoon, and we're reviewing it now.
We think the amendment does the following; - - Doesn't require the government to pay all the city’s expenses to remove the bike lanes - Won’t reimburse municipalities for the cost of installing the lanes in the first place - Bans people from taking the Government to court for its decision to remove bike lanes, including any individuals who are injured or killed due to a collision between a bike and a vehicle - Approves the removal of the entirety of the Bloor St bike lane - Bans municipalities from installing a bike lane on any road or street, including side streets, without provincial approval if a lane of vehicle traffic is removed - Directs the provincial minister to remove the Bloor, Yonge and Avenue Road bike lanes themselves, without municipal action.   Would appreciate your take. #Onpoli

What happened to postal banking? The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has long argued that postal banking, which Canadians had until 1968, would be a big profitable program for Canada Post and save millions of Canadians from being robbed by the big banks. 1/2

Nov 20, 1994: @VIA_Rail Train 66, the eastbound Toronto-Montreal "Metropolis," strikes a three-foot length of rail near Brighton, ON. The rail, which had been deliberately placed on the CN tracks, pierced the fuel tank of LRC locomotive No. 6920. 1/3

Lakeview GO Station has now been confirmed to exist by the Government of Ontario. This station could provide immediate transit access to up to 40,000 people, and should absolutely be built. Lakeview GO will not affect travel times on the Lakeshore West. globalnews.ca/news/10864269/…

During a press release in Mississauga this morning, Lakeview GO Transit Station was officially announced. This station will be located on the Lakeshore West Line between Long Branch and Port Credit stations, giving to up to 40,000 people access to frequent regional rail service:

@EarlWashburn I have about 7 volunteers, enough to put together an in-house voters list and canvass sheet from scratch... after contacting about 60% of the village I think it'll be competitive. Complete overkill but this is all I know how to do!!

Is there a reason why GO Lakeshore West service to Oakville switches from 30 minute to 15 minute frequency only after like 3pm?

@AdamMillsy @WBMetro62 @JakeLandauTO @LongBranchMike1 MX’s lack of clarity and how long things are taking have me feeling the same way. Not a single catenary pole in the ground, no clear service plan indicated (different plans in IBC, social media posts, etc) and just not being clear to the public. This all sucks.

@JakeLandauTO @LongBranchMike1 The Barrie Line will have service more frequent in both directions than any GO line that runs today, which includes service during peak periods.

@AdamMillsy @TransitNews1 @WBMetro62 @Metrolinx @ONtransport @fordnation Not timelines that would create out-of-context sensational "PROJECT DELAYED" timelines, just the list that we can check things off as they go out for RFQ, RFP, signed, start construction so we can see that things are getting done. Is that too much to ask? 5/5

Yesterday morning a brand new piece of track on the Kitchener Line was put into service. This means two trains heading in opposite directions can pass each other between Georgetown and Kitchener GO, something previously impossible until trains reached east of Georgetown GO.

@TransitNews1 @WBMetro62 Installing intermittent passing tracks is how you get to that point. Targeted infrastructure investments means more benefit can be created across the network sooner. Ideally plans are being made with future HSR to SWO in mind however we know that that is not the case...

Props to @Metrolinx for this great PSA on the work they're doing and how it can unlock two-way all-day service to Kitchener ...Oh wait, this is the public doing their job for them and we still don't know when Kitchener will get 2WAD service Great work @WBMetro62 as always
