Let's consider this for a moment: T-64s are automatically discarded, most T-62s are probably too rundown and there's barely ~150 T-80s left in storage, mostly T-80UDs with the same problem as T-64s. T-55s are so simple to pose a technical problem, but they're so few and ancient.

Early this year there were ~400 T-72As still in storage bases. It's likely that the numbers has by now fallen below ~300, with a similar amount still being parked outisde UVZ waiting to be processed.

the iranians have proven themselves very capable at stringing negotiations along, providing just enough to keep the americans engaged.

🇵🇱 The Polish company Mesko has increased the production of its Piorun MANPAD missile to at least six per day, or just over 2.100 per year, in order to keep up with demand. A reminder that consistent bulk orders are the best way to boost capacity. militarnyi.com/uk/news/polshh…

@ChrisO_wiki You can stop reading after "western proxies". Orcs still butthurt that Ukrainians stopped their VDV, naval infantry and all the jazz and showed them that they are a superpower only in their minds.

1/ Russia actually won the war in Ukraine in 2023 – but the Ukrainians changed the paradigm in 2025 and have turned the tables on the Russian army since. So claims RT journalist Alexander Kharchenko, who calls for Russia to change its approach fundamentally. ⬇️

@rjessing @NeilPHauer Where is this coming from? Why would Moldova establish autonomy in their own land which was occupied by russia by force.

1. Ukrainan forces to chase the russian army out 2. Establish a true autonomous government, supported by foreign body (EU/UN/OSCE?) 3. Ensure Moldova's acceptance of some form of autonomy (this could be a condition for a path to EU) 4. Referendum 5. Get Moldova an association agreement with the EU and allow workforce migration. Start infra investments 6. Ukraine to withdraw

An underappreciated side effect of the Russia-Ukraine war is that at some point Transnistria will cease to exist. It's economically, militarily and politically untenable. Ukraine and Moldova/Romania just haven't worked out how to deal with the aftermath yet.

The first Ukrainian glide bomb from @BRAVE1ua is ready for combat deployment. Development took 17 months. The warhead weighs 250 kg. The Ukrainian glide bomb features a unique design created specifically for the realities of modern warfare. Pilots are currently rehearsing combat scenarios and adapting the new weapon system for use in real wartime conditions. Soon, Ukrainian glide bombs will be striking enemy targets.

Russia’s top commanders have convinced Putin their forces could seize the whole of the Donbas by autumn, according to two people in contact with the Kremlin leader, two others familiar with the matter, and a Ukrainian intelligence assessment shared with @FT. Putin then plans to raise the price of any ceasefire by escalating Russia’s territorial demands, three of the people said. ft.com/content/092738…

Paradoxically, some of the best-performing systems in Ukraine, when measured by a mix of price, quality, reliability, and battlefield value, are American. Among strike drones, the Hornet has shown strong value. Among drone-killer systems, the U.S.-made MEROPS stands out. For anti-tank weapons, the Javelin remains one of the most effective systems available. For short-range air defense, VAMPIRE has become a practical answer to low-cost aerial threats. The same pattern appears across other categories. Echodyne provides some of the best radar sensors. Teledyne FLIR remains a leader in thermal and night-vision sensors. L3Harris radios are among the most trusted battlefield communications systems. Patriot is still the best available system for countering ballistic missiles. The MaxxPro is one of the best MRAPs in Ukrainian service. The Humvee remains one of the most useful tactical vehicles. The F-16 is the most capable fighter among those currently available to Ukraine. Even older UH-60 helicopters have proven to be more practical and reliable than the Russian Mi-8AMTSh captured in 2023. The lesson is clear: the American approach to weapons development often works because it does not rely only on advanced technology, as Europe often does, or only on mass production, as Russia and China do. The United States tends to combine technology, scale, reliability, logistics, and battlefield usability. That balance may be the most effective model for large and complex wars.

Chinese automakers are taking over the European car market: European sales of Chinese plug-in hybrid vehicles surged over +300% YoY in March, to a record ~20% of the European hybrid car market. By comparison, in early 2024, Chinese hybrid sales represented just 2% of the EU hybrid market. This pushed total Chinese car sales in Europe up nearly +100% YoY in March, to a record 140,094 vehicles. Now, Chinese cars make up a record 9.4% of the overall European market, tripling over the last 2 years. Chinese automakers continue to offer some of the most cost-effective vehicles in the market while increasingly matching European brands on technology and features. Europeans are rushing to buy Chinese cars at an unprecedented pace.
