@project4_4 Don’t forget Acting GOC First Canadian Army in the Scheldt. Arguably the Canadian Army’s most significant victory.

@CanadianForces @RCAF_ARC Another example of CAF social media not doing basic research. Wood was born in Montreal to Canadian parents. Working for the United Fruit Company does not make you Latin American.

Pilot Officer Leslie Arthur Wood, born in San Salvador, El Salvador, enlisted in the RCAF on April 14, 1941, in Montreal, Quebec. His service is a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice made by members during the Second World War. #LatinAmericanHeritageMonth 1/3

It took me about 15 mins to figure out Rifleman Wheeler wasn’t Colombian (service file and google search) CAF social media doesn’t seem interested in correcting their error. Feel free to let them know that historical accuracy matters.

Rifleman James Clinton Wheeler’s story is one of heroic sacrifices. Originally from El Centro, Infantas, Municipio de Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia, he enlisted in the @Canadianarmy in Toronto, on July 19, 1943. #LatinAmericanHeritageMonth 1/4

@MattyWorthy32B It is my understanding that instead of Maple Resolve happening in Wainwright, it just happens in Latvia. And it kinda makes sense. Latvia is just one long fucking Maple Resolve tbh.

@CanWarMuseum You refused my wife and daughter free entry into the CWM because I (a serving member) wasn't present. You need to revisit this policy. Military families make incredible sacrifices so that we can serve and they should be granted independent free access to the CWM.

Any recommendations for a UK military history conference later this year or 2025?

@fjmaloney1 SWW Bde HQs were tiny compared modern brigades. They grew slightly larger by 1944, adding a DAAQMG (Major) and a Staff Captain ops.

@43Wheeler Congratulations. This looks interesting. I was recently in a conversation about size of HQs and how they have changed from war, to post war, GWOT/small wars, and now trying to figure out what's the right size and disposition given the current conflict.

@43Wheeler Word on the street is that what is driving the replacement is that the specific fabric used in Army DEU — that retro dark green 65% wool/35% polyester — isn’t produced by industry anymore. So if you want to accelerate the process, order as much green stuff online as you can

@JoaodosReisAlb1 @glenparry8183 Definitely not. The uniform was specifically selected from the interwar period as Canadians adopted British uniforms during the SWW. It’s Canadian through and through. Just like the pic of Crerar wearing it in the 1930s.
