@txsalth2o @motleyjoo Why incur the stress of hustling after practice or working an extra hour because your manager asks for a favor so your mom/dad don't have to wait. My four kids all had jobs. They needed permission to go anywhere else but it's nice to ease them into driving a known route.

This remains the most insane data point about France. Companies there must spend €95k to pay an employee a net €39k. Can you imagine the incentive to replace French jobs with AI and robots?

I can’t rationalize with the irrational. Show me a group of successful boomers and I’ll show you hard workers, people who mortgaged it all on a business idea. People who started over and did it 2x. I’m not a boomer and I see this. Unfortunately, the Boomers didn’t pass on the work ethic that was passed onto them. Maybe half Gen X got a proper upbringing and millennials got none. My god, we have to keep kids on health insurance and in parent’s basements until 26… at 26 I was already deep into my career… not finding myself and working a job for the first time. Don’t even get me started on the harm of letting “kids be kids” and not mandating our children hold some type of summer job during HS and college. They are not prepared.

@unusual_whales Simplistic view. You can lease an electric for zero down $500/month effective cost, pay $30/ month for fuel. Compare to financing similar gas vehicle. No repairs. You have more disposable cash to invest and get out of middle class.

Billionaire Dylan Taylor has said that leasing a car is the biggest red flag you'll stay stuck in the middle class, per FORUTNE

Alexander wept. Caesar wept. Jesus wept. Your problem in life is not that you are too passionate. Your problem is that you are not passionate enough.

@dandolfa @grok what type of argument is this? This is a classic example of an ad hominem argument (specifically, a circumstantial or abusive variant).

Huh. Ain't that something. Of course, you might note- correctly - this could have happened any time prior to now. Edit: Oh, that's right. This is the burbs, where we have a different kind of liberal, who may tolerate watching chaos on TV but won't allow it in their backyard.

The Minnesota State Patrol is now operating together with DHS and have been granted the right to use maximum force to keep the peace. They took the gloves off and the protesters on BlueSky are blackpilling over this unexpected turn of events.

@dgardner And again, Denmark the country on Earth with the most personal freedom and yet I am getting lectured daily about how I am living in a de facto dictatorship by people living in countries substantially lower on that list… tiring

Nice attempt at changing the subject, but fail. The issue is that Hegseth is the perfect man, based on unique qualifications, to reform the DoW away from the failures of the past 25 years, yet you took that article to be some sort of "jingostic" warmongering neocon nonsense. It's pretty clear that you did not even read the article, that you made an X post about what you wrongly assumed it said, and now you are trying to recover from that intellectual failing by feebly attempting to change the subject. As I said, it's no wonder you write for that atrocious, fabulist supermarket tabloid, "The Atlantic."

The populist right will always revert to pro war jingoism. It was all in on the Iraq War, though it would have everyone forget that, and now if Trump pushes a regime change war of choice they'll be naive, bombastic cheerleaders again.
Cynical Publius@CynicalPublius

The War on Pete Hegseth needs to end. The smear campaign exists because Hegseth is an existential threat to the status quo of the failed defense establishment. What they characterize as his weaknesses are actually his strengths. My latest in American Greatness. amgreatness.com/2025/12/05/the…
