One of the most humbling and sacred experiences of my life has been the opportunity to serve the people of Mali through humanitarian trips. Mali is among the poorest countries in the world, and the realities there are difficult to fully comprehend until you see them firsthand. The infant mortality rate remains heartbreakingly high—around 55–60 deaths per 1,000 live births—meaning that roughly 1 in every 17–18 children does not live to see their first birthday. The country is also marked by deep instability. Large regions—especially in the north, and increasingly in central and southern areas—are affected by insurgent groups linked to Al-Qaeda. And yet, despite the danger, we still went—three times. Each visit required the protection of the Malian military. There was risk, but there was also purpose. Why do I share this? Because in the midst of hardship, I am witnessing something powerful. Mali is predominantly Muslim (about 90–95% of the population) and has historically shown a degree of tolerance toward other faiths, including Christianity. When I first visited in 2022, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had just a single small branch in the entire country—fewer than 80 members. There were no proselytizing missionaries, only a few humanitarian couples doing quiet, faithful work. But the Lord is mindful of all His children—no matter how remote the place or how small the beginning. Over the past year, something remarkable has been happening. After great sacrifice, a small group of about 20–30 members were able to travel last month to the Abidjan Temple in Ivory Coast for the first time. For many, it was a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual milestone. And since that experience, the growth has been extraordinary. I am now hearing they expect 83 new baptisms by the end of April. In just two years, this small branch may grow from 60–80 members to more than 300. It’s a powerful reminder to me that faith can take root anywhere—and that even in the most unlikely places, the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ is growing. Please pray for these beautiful and faith-inspiring people. They are modern pioneers full of hope, love and faith.

All it takes is one bad egg to make me want to give up on LDX or SaintsOnX. Imagine calling someone an idiot for holding the temple sacred.

After repeatedly harassing them, campus security banned our missionaries 10 months ago. I fought that decision. The chaplaincy agreed to sponsor us late last year. It took 4 months to get approval. But today our ZLs were back on campus. Four students asked for Book of Mormons!
B C Baker@bcbaker66

Over the past fortnight, our missionaries have spent about 20 hours/week at the local university with a small table and a stack of Book of Mormons. As of today, they have placed nearly 100 copies, mostly with people who approached them to ask for one. We have literally run out.

Guys I really need prayers 🥺. Yesterday, my son turned 18. I went to wish him Happy Birthday only to find his things gone & a 5 pg letter telling me he hates me & he's leaving the church. This came out of nowhere. He's been lying to everyone for over a year. I'm shattered. #LDSX

How do you explain the overwhelming evidence of the hole in the hill Cumorah? Critics can claim that Joseph Smith made fake gold plates or that the witnesses lied, but how do you explain the behavior of the people who were never supposed to be witnesses? Joseph said the plates were taken from a stone box on the west side of the hill near the top. Oliver independently gave the same location. And.... hostile locals kept confirming the same place. Lorenzo Saunders, while trying to attack Joseph, revealed that there was a large man-made hole exactly where Joseph described. David Whitmer first took the story seriously because he was convinced by the stories of enemies where they described that they had seen the place in the hill where Joseph got the plates. This is why the efforts to get the plates from Joseph were so extreme. The story of the Gold Plates was so much more than just a story of angels. The residents of Palmyra were convinced that Joseph Smith had found a real physical treasure. They went to the hill. They saw the evidence. They tried to steal the plates. They searched the Smith home. They tore up the cooper shop. They hired diviners. They tried negotiating with him. They threatened him before he moved. They kept hunting because they believed Joseph had something real. The hill was close enough for locals to inspect for themselves. Joseph could control who saw the plates, but he did not control the hole in the hill or who saw the empty stone box left behind. And he could not control what hostile men concluded after they saw it. They mocked the angel, but they desperately hunted for the treasure they felt entitled to. That only makes sense if they were convinced Joseph had actually taken something out of that hill.

While talking to my Bishop on Wednesday evening, he asked me how I was able to grow so spiritually so fast… noting he’s seen a mighty change in me. (Truly a humbling moment in my life… when someone, especially him can see the change)… I told him it may sound strange… It all started with meeting Elder Holland, I knew I needed to change (still such a significant moment in my life). Then in October during conference, I started interacting with the LDSX community on a daily basis and they (you all) kept me going strong. Soon I felt a desire to share and post more… and soon I realized sharing testimony was becoming central to my life. This community may have all sorts of different dynamics within it, but it is truly my goal to lift, edify, and be authentic moments here. I need it to continue in my journey of living a Christ-centered life. It keeps me accountable. So thank you… thank you for helping me grow my testimony and keep me accountable… so much more to come!!!! #SaintsOnX

I love the word “abide.” In scripture, it means more than to remain - it speaks to a deeper spiritual connection, a place of permanence within the soul. As we make and keep our covenants, we remember the promise of His atoning sacrifice. The at-one-ment we feel through repentance is not meant to be fleeting. It is meant to be everlasting.
Gerrit W. Gong@GerritWGong

Just as the disciples on the road to Emmaus ask Jesus to abide with them, Jesus Christ promises to abide with us.
