The 65 Works Group Royal Engineers thread. This thread will explore the who we are, organisation and specialist capabilities. The unit is a national reserve, Army Reserve unit drawn from across heavy infrastructure and engineering compaines.

I had the pleasure of being invited to give a talk on RE Line of Communication work in the Great War @65_group Study weekend. It was an interesting few weeks doing the research on this & gave me the opportunity to highlight the work of RE Forestry & Inland Water Transport Units

This UCRB example we suspect is the last remaining example in the world, a legacy of the 1944-45 NW Europe Campaign. The UCRB was used as prolifically as the more well known Bailey bridge but history has forgotten its widespread use by RE Tn in NW Europe and Italy.

Re-discovered on a recent battlefield study to Normandy; we are pleased to announce the survival of the last remaining Unit Construction Railway Bridge (UCRB) located close to Caen docks. @REMuseum @RE_Hist_Society @Proud_Sappers

Discovered during Ex Mulberry Scholar, our battlefield study of the Normandy landings focussing on RE LofC enabling.

Have just been to the new @REMuseum exhibition about the Mulberry Harbour. Fascinating stuff & the scale remains utterly boggling. Looking forward to the blueprint merch I suggested. @WeHaveWaysPod @James1940
