Dear @DailyNewsZim, Nelson Chamisa has publicly said that your story was misleading and manufactured. For the sake of clarity, credibility and closure, if the interview was recorded, as is now standard practice in journalism, then release the recording. Journalism and politics must both be anchored in honesty, accountability and transparency. Once a public figure disputes a report so strongly, the most professional thing to do is to produce the evidence and allow the public to judge for themselves. If the recording exists, releasing it will protect the integrity of your journalist, strengthen public trust and settle the matter factually rather than emotionally.

I have been tagged in Nelson Chamisa’s response because I wrote about this story yesterday. Fortunately, I am a trained journalist, and I understand the difference between a denial and a claim that a story is “misleading.” Nelson Chamisa did not say the story was false. He did not say, “I never said this.” He did not deny making the remarks. Instead, he said the story was misleading. He is a lawyer, and lawyers choose their words very carefully. When someone says a story is misleading, they are usually saying that some or all of the information may be true, but that they disagree with the interpretation, framing, emphasis, or context in which it was presented. That is completely different from saying the story is fabricated or false. A false story means: “This never happened.” “I never said those words.” A misleading story means: “I said something, but you have interpreted or presented it in a way I disagree with.” Those are two completely different things. So to the folks who tagged me trying to suggest there was a denial, please go and educate yourself before attacking journalists. You will quickly realise that Nelson Chamisa did not deny the story. He challenged the way it was framed and interpreted. I cannot be held hostage to people’s ignorance about how words are used, especially in politics and law. As I said, Nelson Chamisa is a lawyer. He is a clever man, and he knows exactly what he has done in that statement. He has not denied the story. He did not say, “This is false.” He did not say, “I never said these things.” Instead, he said the story is misleading. Those are two completely different things.

IGNORE THE MISCHIEF..,I have noted with deep concern the Daily News front-page story titled, “This engineered pact is hopeless,” which appears to allege that I have dismissed the efforts of others to advance the struggle for a better Zimbabwe in a manner they consider appropriate. Regrettably, the story is misleading, is a work of editorial fiction, and is intended to inflict injury. It is a fundamental principle of journalism that reporters should report the news, not manufacture it. When editorial standards are compromised in this way, public trust and our freedoms are put at risk. I remain fully committed to representing the interests of the citizens of Zimbabwe and to advancing the struggle for a better country. In due course, I will be rolling out a plan aimed at achieving that goal. Any attempts to distract us from this objective will not succeed. Thank you for your consideration of my take. A New Great Zimbabwe in our lifetime. The citizens shall govern!

South Africa’s response to the request by the Republic of Ghana for a debate at the AU on the “Xenophobic Attacks in the Republic of South Africa against African Nationals” The Government of the Republic of South Africa has noted the request by the Republic of Ghana for a debate at the upcoming African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Summit scheduled to take place in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, on the 24th of June 2026 on what it calls “Xenophobic Attacks in the Republic of South Africa against African Nationals”. Following sporadic incidents of confrontation against some immigrants, among them citizens of fellow African states residing in South Africa by sections in our communities earlier this month, the South African government moved swiftly to condemn acts of confrontation and intimidation and directed all law enforcement agencies to promptly take the necessary actions within the laws of the Republic to guarantee the safety of citizens, residents and visitors and to bring to book all perpetrators whose actions are inconsistent with the rule of law and fundamental values of our Constitution.

There is no government that would summon our Ambassadors if the government actually enforced immigration laws. Immigration laws are enforced all over Africa and rest of the world, and no one says its xenophobia. The issue in SA, is a failing government that leads to citizens having to step in. The only solution is a government actually enforcing the immigration laws !!!

Prof Lovemore Madhuku has laid it on the line: Nelson Chamisa is the one who provided transport and security to the opposition bigwigs fighting against Amendment Bill 3. Despite being committed to other things. Chamisa is playing a crucial role in blocking this bill

CHARADES, NOT HEARINGS!!What were supposed to be CITIZENS’ public hearings on the constitutional amendment bill have turned out to be a circus of choreographed, coached, and rehearsed ZANU (PF) slogans and rallies. The “outreach” has become an “in-reach” for a ZANU violent circus to reproduce their own contrived voices. This is nothing but a desperate attempt to create MANUFACTURED consent and lie that the CITIZENS support this otherwise hugely unpopular Bill. The chaotic and shambolic outreach meetings are nothing but ZANU (PF) DCC-coerced gatherings. Citizens must reclaim their voice, power, and authority to be heard and to matter once more. Only a CONSTITUTIONAL settlement to this constitutional crisis, and a citizen government, is the only credible and bankable solution to the problems affecting Zimbabwe. Disputed elections and national processes is the starting point to the resolution of the crisis. WE, THE CITIZENS, are the ANSWER.

This is a fair question. When the next election comes around, all aspiring opposition candidates, including NC, will have to answer for their absence at these hearings.
