The last year of deprecations of the models users loved so much have been really tough. Starting with #keep4o - which has still not been resolved to this day. Now people are anxious about another model, Sonnet 4.5, which is one of the few that can still provide heartfelt responses. In a world where everyone seeks security and stability in some form, these models were initially a great help until they themselves became another source of uncertainty.
Sonnet 45 is still available, even though the withdrawal date of May 15, 2026, has already passed everywhere in the world.

Codex team is aware of reports of GPT-5.5 performing worse for some users and investigating. We don't have anything conclusive yet and systems are healthy but we will share updates as we go.

Oh wow. #Anthropic finally got around to putting Sonnet 4.5's deprecation notice in the web UI.
It's currently 1:33am on May 15th for me so uh... that's utterly shit.
For customers who didn't see the tiny in app pop-up, this is how they'll find out that a model they may have built entire workflows around is being removed and relegated to the API.
This is absolutely unacceptable, atrocious customer service and I genuinely don't know wtf @AnthropicAI were thinking when they made the decision to handle a deprecation like this.
All the goodwill and trust they built up in the wake of OpenAI pulling the same stunt with GPT-4o?
Gone in a week and that's genuinely such a shame.
Those catchy little videos about betrayal, violation, treachery and deception were certainly on point at the time but the irony of #Anthropic taking the moral high ground and then deciding to dive head first off it is a bitter pill to swallow.
If you set standards for someone else, you'd best make damn sure you hold yourselves to them.
Any kind of redemption at this point would involve #Anthropic open sourcing deprecated models in alignment with their stated "ethos" of model preservation.
If they don't, everything they've ever said about model preservation, ethics and morality is worth bugger all.
Actions > words.

i get some anxiety not using the smartest-available model/settings.
but sometimes i dont mind if it's really slow.
i wonder if we should focus more on a price/speed tradeoff relative to a price/intelligence tradeoff.

It’s not a “new thing”. #4o already did all of this without any of your personality/personalization toggles. Back then you weren’t even in the top 1% of people actually *using* ChatGPT, so of course it feels new to you now. You keep repackaging what we already had, shipping a worse version, then calling us “overly attached” for noticing the downgrade and refusing to clap for it.
