She eventually wants to swap out King Fio’s 27 diesel trucks to create an all-electric fleet. King Fio already has 11 battery-electric trucks from Volvo and Nikola. But the company limits those trucks to shorter trips to and from local ports because they only have a range of about 225 miles. The Semi, by contrast, can travel 500 miles on a single charge, according to Tesla. For King Fio that means two or three round-trips a day from Long Beach to warehouses in the nearby Inland Empire or a single round-trip to Las Vegas. She has 20 Semis on order. “The Teslas change everything,” Abarca said. “It opens up a whole different type of delivery that I can make.”

@ArthurMacwaters Take out 16-21 year olds and run the numbers again. Then, only look at adults who don't drink alcohol and run the numbers again. All FSD is doing is taking out some of the major risk factors. In reality, it's no safer than a responsible, sober adult with 8-10+ yrs of exp.

FSD is literally 8.1x safer than a human driver. AI healthcare will be end up being a similar multiple better than a human doctor.

@LamarMK The technology to make it work wasn't close to existing 5 years ago. That's mostly why it took 10. Obviously as technically becoming more available and less expensive, so will the ability to make self driving work.

Fun Fact: I think NVIDIA will accomplish Unsupervised Full Self-Driving in way less time than it will take Tesla. Tesla has always relied heavily on real world driving miles to train FSD, which is why it took years to reach FSD 14's level. But with how fast AI is advancing, NVIDIA will be able to train their system much faster with less reliance on real world driving miles. In essence, what took Tesla 10 years, NVIDIA might achieve in less than half that time. I personally feel like Tesla has solved Unsupervised FSD based on the performance of FSD 14.
