Viewing things from on high, and all over. No faves, just fair comment and sometimes sarcasm.

Everyone thinks Trump got rich from real estate. That's wrong. His real fortune came from ONE strategy his grandfather invented during the 1890s gold rush. Here's how this 130-year-old principle built a $8 BILLION empire: 🧵

Sir Sandford Fleming was one of the most important Canadians of the 19th century. Best known for his promotion of Standard Time, he had a massive impact on Canada from surveying our railroads to creating our first stamp. Let's learn more about this amazing Canadian! 🧵1/16

@USAmbCanada @ABDanielleSmith No true #Albertan would enjoy an American beer over domestic beer. Bourbon, maybe in a rub on Canadian grade A beef — also an Alberta best! Now, about fair and reciprocal trade — your move!

Very glad to see that Albertans can once again enjoy a cold U.S. beer or glass of wine. Thanks to Premier @ABDanielleSmith for your leadership in removing this barrier to fair and reciprocal trade.

@acoyne Agree it is meaningless emotive catch-all. Bring “it” (??) home from where? And when he says “Bring it Home”, does he mean taxpayer-funded Stornoway, or his property in an Ottawa riding for which (a) he doesn’t seem to know the boundaries, and (b) may finish second.

During this week in 1815, eruptions began at Mount Tambora in Indonesia. It culminated in the most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded human history that lowered global temperatures in 1816. This is the story of Canada's Year Without A Summer 🧵1/12

@elonmusk Serious question — how is this at legal in a true democracy? ny democracy. And not just because it is Trump/Musk. It is just wrong in principle. Is it not also illegal? And where is the public outrage, in WI or more broadly? #uspoli

@ABDanielleSmith Absolute BS. Says AB will “keep doing all we can to protect our province and to convince the Americans that tariffs against Canada are not the way to prosperity.” But also declares #ableg won’t use its strongest lever to fight the madness. Leave the heavy lifting to others #weak

Mark Carney and the Nenshi NDP think it’s “disloyal” to stand up for our province, our jobs, and our economy and to try and persuade Americans to reverse their President’s view on tariffs against Canada. Well, I don’t take my marching orders from Ottawa - and neither do Albertans. We’ll keep doing all we can to protect our province and to convince the Americans that tariffs against Canada are not the way to prosperity.

@KevMVickers Serious question. If Carney can only be sworn in at the sole constitutional discretion of the Governor-General; and if PCO is composed of unelected public servants who can only advise; if both are correct — how can PCO set the timing for the swearing in? Am I missing something?

So upset at PCO (Privy Council Office). Our country is unsettled, our citizens are unnerved. Mr Mark Carney not being sworn in until Friday just does not cut it. This should be done already treated as both important and urgent and is tone deaf to the uneasiness of our citizens

While other medieval cities fell to Christian armies during the Reconquista, Granada remained unconquered for over 250 years. The secret? The Alhambra Palace - a fortress of such genius engineering that even modern NASA scientists study its systems.

In 1238, Granada's engineers pulled off the biggest feat in medieval history: They built a self-sustaining water system 200 meters up a mountain. But what they created next nearly destroyed physics forever. Here's the full story: 🧵

H-1B DATA MEGA-THREAD 🧵 I downloaded five years of H-1B data from the US DOL website (4M+ records) and spent the day crunching data. I went into this with an open mind, but, to be honest, I'm now *extremely* skeptical of how this program works. Here's what I found 👇
