The Jute Crop Information System (JCIS) is transforming India’s jute sector by integrating satellite-based mapping, weather analytics, and geo-tagged field data into a unified digital platform. The system has been developed through collaboration between National Jute Board, Jute Corporation of India, and National Remote Sensing Centre under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It enables near real-time crop area estimation, improved yield forecasting, jute production data estimation and timely alerts for risks such as floods, pest attacks, and weather variability. By combining satellite intelligence with ground-level validation through mobile applications and structured sampling methods, JCIS is enabling a more data-driven and transparent monitoring system. The improved accuracy of crop data supports better planning, policy alignment, and faster decision making, while also helping reduce crop losses contributing to a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable jute ecosystem in India. #JuteCropInformationSystem #JCIS #Jute @PIB_India @MIB_India @PIBTextiles @PIBKolkata @isro @JuteComm_India @JuteBoard @jutecorporation

In this article, Union Minister Shri @girirajsinghbjp brings out a simple but powerful insight that technical textiles in footwear are not an emerging concept but are already embedded in the industry. He emphasises that the task ahead is to recognise, organise and scale this integration, bringing the footwear sector more explicitly within the technical textiles ecosystem.
Giriraj Singh@girirajsinghbjp

Technical Textiles are rapidly emerging as critical enablers of the growth of India’s footwear sector, driving innovation, improving performance standards, and strengthening exports. We must unlock the footwear sector's hidden potential and scale it globally through structured growth where Technical Textiles will play a big role. Under the visionary leadership of honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, India’s strong manufacturing base and skilled workforce, combined with the blend of innovation and sustainability, will propel the nation to the forefront of the global value chain. @PMOIndia #Textiles #Innovation #TechnicalTextiles #FutureOfManufacturing #StrategicGrowth #Footwear

At its core, the India–New Zealand FTA is a growth catalyst for MSMEs and employment. Labour-intensive sectors like textiles, apparel, leather, and footwear stand to gain significantly, while engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and agri-products unlock new export potential. For India’s MSMEs, this means expanded market access, stronger demand, and scalable growth opportunities—driving job creation across the value chain. A clear win for grassroots industries and the broader economy. #IndiaNZFTA

The India–New Zealand FTA is also a strategic play for investments and long-term growth. With the potential to unlock significant FDI inflows, the agreement creates opportunities across manufacturing, infrastructure, services, and innovation-led sectors. This translates into stronger industrial capacity, job creation, and a more resilient economic ecosystem. A future-focused move, where trade meets investment to drive sustained growth. #IndiaNZFTA

Delhi: On the FTA with New Zealand, A Sakthivel, Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council says, "It's a welcome home because so far we are not able to approach the New Zealand market. Even though their apparel is about 1.4 billion, but we are doing only 4% of it. Now it is an opportunity for the apparel exporters to double our business within two or three years....''
