Fiji and Japan would make the Rugby Championship intriguing. Interestingly though, the word has always been South Africa is anti-Japan. Tony Brown confirmed this. Didn’t want them in Super Rugby. Forced Sunwolves games to be played in Singapore. Not sure how expanded TRC would get their support.

@t2_lam @KeffirLime @bernardjackman @TobiasTwo Not true.. There have been tons of scrums where the opposition scored a try via a scrum over the try line. (SA vs Ireland last year). Its a starting static maul. I dont know about you but they did not come together before the scrum and said “lets go backwards”

It’s not a prop’s decision. They are in the middle of so many Newtons from behind & in front… natural way is up or down. Not backwards

Some of the reactionary punditry to the Springboks awesome display of forward power Saturday is hard to take seriously. I would hate to see the scrum depowered and the Irish players and coaches will be the same. Just because one team is brilliant in one area why would you dumb it down rather than everyone strive to get better🙈

@t2_lam @KeffirLime @bernardjackman @TobiasTwo If the scrum goes backwards, there will be no penalty. It becomes and issue if you dont want to move backwards and collapse it. Do it a few times its a yellow. Dont want a yellow... Then move backwards

@AKingCohn @KeffirLime @bernardjackman @TobiasTwo I think giving a penlty is correct. But a yellow card… if you can’t defend because you’re overpowered then it should allow the opposition team to take 3, to go to the corner or take another scrum if they really want to waste time.

A stronger scrum will always force a weaker scrum into an infringement, but it’s not intentional.
You shouldn’t be penalised simply for having a weaker scrum, it’s like being penalised for being weaker at passing.
