Las Vegas police arrested John Young Cotter Johnstone, an illegal alien from the UK, who police say was captured on video dragging and swinging dogs by their leashes and kicking one dog. Johnstone faces multiple charges connected to animal abuse he allegedly committed while working at a local rescue in Nevada. The same day Johnstone was arrested, ICE issued an immigration detainer with the Clark County Detention Center. The next day, April 2, Clark County officials honored the detainer, and ICE took custody of the alleged animal abuser. Johnstone came to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program as a visitor. He was supposed to leave the country by Feb. 22, 2022. ICE secured a final order of removal. He’ll stay in ICE detention pending local charges.
