The clueless mayor and equally clueless governor are impacting the financial health by introduction pied-à-terre tax; on the surface, it is taxing the rich who own second homes worth $5m. On the surface they appease the voters, as they are going after the rich. In long term these rich folks who come to visit their second homes and allow their other rich friends the use - who drop shit load of money on city services and offerings are going to be impacted which will directly impact jobs in this city/state and more importantly tax revenues. The city comptroller was on liberal channel, #spectum, selling the gimmicks that socialist @zohran and @KathyHochul have come up with to close the gap; it is all bullshit schemes that a freshman student at a city college could decipher. So situation is going to get worse, not better. We New Yorkers who have lived our entire lives here are fucked unless we can wrap our heads around the fact that there is no hope left for this wonderful city.
To be a politician in NY. All you have to do is say: I am a @democrat and rich people are even as identity politics has failed, and offer free buses but now they are putting inspectors on buses to ensure people have paid their fare, so additional expense for the city or they will refer to it as creating jobs.
It is hard to believe that women talk abut kitchen table issues being important, economy, and crime but choose to vote for democrats - the party that is against everyone of those issues. So maybe the voters are lying on their polls.
