Deeply hurt and disappointed A national symposium on “Ancient Heritage of Maharashtra: Ancient Jain Temples” was jointly organized by the Department of Philosophy and Jain Engineers Society under the chairmanship of the Hon. Vice-Chancellor Suresh Gosavi. Revered Digambar Jain saint was officially invited to deliver a spiritual discourse. As per the schedule, Maharaj Shri was to begin a peaceful padayatra from HND Boarding at 3:30 PM and arrive at the university by 4:00 PM for the address. But at the last moment, permission was denied and entry was reportedly refused on the grounds that a Digambar monk could not enter the university in his traditional ascetic form. This is not merely cancellation of a guest lecture — it is an insult to an ancient spiritual tradition, to Jain values, and to the dignity of a revered saint who lives a life of absolute non-violence, detachment, and compassion. Digambar Jain monks have no anger, hatred, or ego. Maharaj Shri himself may remain unaffected by this incident, but as followers and citizens, we cannot remain silent when our faith and heritage are disrespected. India is a land that speaks of diversity, tolerance, and respect for all traditions. If an invited Jain monk can be denied entry to a university because of his religious identity and ascetic tradition, it raises serious questions about inclusivity and constitutional respect for all faiths. We strongly expect the Vice-Chancellor and university administration to express regret and issue a public clarification regarding this unfortunate incident. Respect all faiths. ಸುಮಾರು ಸಾವಿರದ ಮುನ್ನೂರಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿ, ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್ ದಾಖಲೆ ಸೇರಿದ, ತೆಲುಗಿನ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಹಾಸ್ಯನಟ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾನಂದಂ ಅವರು ತೆಲುಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದ ಆತ್ಮಕಥೆಯ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಅವತರಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಓದಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುವಾದಿಸಲೇಬೇಕು ಎನಿಸಿತು. ನಾನು ತೆಲುಗು ಮಾತಾಡಲಾರೆ, ಆದರೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾನಂದಂ ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದ ನಟ. ತಾರಾಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿದ್ದಾರೆಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನಟಿಸಿದ ನೂರಾರು ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದವನು. ಆ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡವನು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುವಾದಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ 'ವಿಶ್ವವಾಣಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ' ಪ್ರಕಾಶನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾನಂದಂ ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಿದರು. ಒಬ್ಬ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕನಾಗಿದ್ದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ಪರಿ ಅದ್ಭುತ. ಬಣ್ಣದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಲ್ಲದ, ಆದರೆ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಲೋಕದ ಮೇರು ಕಲಾವಿದನೊಬ್ಬನ ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಮಿಡಿತ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗಾಢವಾಗಿ ಆವರಿಸಿತು. ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾನಂದಂ ಅವರ ಬದುಕು ಕೇವಲ ಒಬ್ಬ ನಟನ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಒಬ್ಬ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಕಲಾವಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬ ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಪಯಣದ ಕೈಫಿಯತ್ತು.
